I understand the hesitancy to ban a poster, I don’t want this to be like the IU board where simply having something Purdue related in your handle can get you banned. But what does it take to ban DickPepper? He literally brings nothing good to discussions and is all negative all the time. A scum fan of a scum program to boot. Please for the love of all that is right, ban that jackass and be rid of him. Oh, and ban his IP address(es) as well so we don’t get a PepperDick or DickPepperToo showing up.

My skin is thick. I was just calling you out for your language and name calling of others it is you who became defensive and continued your name calling of others. Why do you feel the need to constantly call other posters you disagree with names?

No, Bigs, your skin is really thin if you're highly offended by a trailer park comment. That's really weak, and along the lines of a "yo mama" jab. Really.

Now... Define "constantly," as in I "constantly call other posters . . . names."

I don't call people names when we simply have a disagreement. My record is long on this forum, with many disagreements, and calling out people in various forms. You and I have had our fair share of disagreements. Some I simply shake my head in disbelief and move on. Have I called you a name? Ever?

DickieP deserves much more than he's received. It's not an issue of disagreement, it's action. If people don't act like a dipstick, they won't be recognized as such. When people (mostly 'visiting' posters) come here an act like an @ss, they can expect to be called on it. If you don't like that, I can't help you. As someone else stated here or in another thread, we were warned about Dickie, and Dickie has lived up to the billing.

Too many people in society today are obsessed with shutting down people, if those people say something slightly offensive. I'm not going to be shut down by a trivial comment on an internet forum. Be stronger than that, Bigs.

All you have to do is look at your own posts and reactions to them. There is no benefit to name calling.

I've already addressed this. I'm not looking for a benefit. I'm addressing what has become a significant problem from time to time.

If you'll notice the pattern, the biggest issue I have is when visitors come to this forum and trash it. You dislike my approach. Got it.

I'll invoke the popeye defense. ;)

Appreciate your feedback, Bigs.

It’s not about just me seeing your tripe, but other posters and visitors to the board. And not everyone lives in the same time zone as you (sometimes not even remotely the same). Provincial minds like yours have probably never contemplated living outside the Eastern Time Zone, let alone the country.

I like the 4th street District and Embassy Suites. The Seebach Hilton is also very nice and a lot cheaper than expected. They have a nice breakfast buffet. Some worthy dining places of notein that area: Jeff Ruby's steak house. the Brown Hotel lobby, Vincenzo's, Gordon Biersch brewery, the Live District, Eddie Merlots, Pestos, Brendon's Catch 23, Gatsbys, Hard Rock Café, TGI Fridays, and a nice ice cream parlor on 4th street.

On a side note, I grew up in a Schult single wide mobile home in a trailer park, and find all of the doublewide references, pictures and jokes posted on this board very offensive. one would think from a community that manufactured National Homes, that you would have a little more respect for people that can't afford an $800,00 house in a closed gate community.

I agree with your assessment of the 4th street options. You can get a pretty good variety there, and reasonably priced, as noted.

I personally love the Manhattan grill. Nice place, very reasonably priced.

Bigs, I, too, lived in a trailer when my parents were very young.

My grandmother lived much of her adult life in one, pretty much all the years I knew her; First, in Bloomfield, then in Bloomington.

Additionally, a sibling lived in one for a short time after being married.

If we try hard enough, we ALL can find reasons to be offended. For starters, we could be offended by so many people who want to create so many rules of things people cannot say, that we all walk on egg shells for fear of being an offendER.

If you're so offended by the trailer references (of which I'm guilty, and likely engaging in a large percentage of it), I would strongly suggest you get much thicker skin.

Let's not go out of our way to try to shut people down, simply because we choose to be offended. Society needs stronger people. Not people who walk around, perpetually offended.

My mom was from Bloomfield, and my dads mom was from Jasonville (shakamack State park area) . I own some property in between them on the edge of the Green-Sullivan State Forest (Linton). Beautiful area and some great fishing and hunting spots.

I'm in the housing business, in both rentals and construction. National Homes wasn't a mobile home manufacturer, and I'm sure they wouldn't have sold new for the same price as a new mobile home. I've owned and worked on old National Homes houses. They were built with most of the same materials as stick framed houses, 2x4's and 2x6's etc., not 2x2's like mobile homes. The difference was walls and other things in the house were built in a warehouse then shipped to the job and assembled. This is still done for walls by a couple home builders in Lafayette, and I'm sure in other places across the country. They buy walls pre built from Henry Poor, who has a wall panel plant in Frankfort. You will pay the same for these houses and apartment buildings as you would if they were stick framed.

They are a prefabricated home. A doublewide is also a very similarly constructed prefabricated home. A mobile home in the 70's was also a prefabricated home built of even cheaper materials. my thought - when you insult the people who live in these types of homes, you also insult the people that make them.

You're right - no message board posters ever log on in the middle of (whatever their) the night but, fair point. That said, you are falling victim to the same sort of provincialism that you accuse me of - my assumption of your time zone aside - you have no idea what time zone, or where in the world I am either.

My advice - wherever you are - try taking things, and yourself especially, a little less seriously. Or again, smash that ignore button. Have a great day - or night as the case may be. :)

I'll answer your question, in spite of the fact you've refused to answer mine.

Yes, you're incorrect. On a massive scale. It's ridiculous to make such a statement, Bigs.
I didn't see that you asked me a question.

Are not national homes prefab homes? Are not double wides prefab homes? are not mobile homes pre-fab manufactured homes? Do the workers not take pride in the homes they construct?

you can go back to arguing with Pepperfield now.

Okay... so you're not interested enough in my responses to actually read them, you simply have an agenda, you want to poke your finger in my chest and tell me what a piece of (crap) I am. That's the message you send when you don't care enough to read (and digest) a response after making an accusation.

I'm not arguing with DickieP, although it sounds like you're done being Dickie's surrogate.

If you're so "into" a reasonable exchange, go back up a few posts and read my questions to you. If not, you've exposed your agenda.

To answer your question, yes, you actually have called me names, insulted me and publically questioned my intelligence. You may not called me an ashole, but you have used words that have offended me.

If a person is acting like an ass, or trying to be one, he still doesn't need to be called one. What's the point or benefit of calling somebody something that everybody already knows?

And yes, sometimes a poster may actually be off his meds. That doesn't mean he/she needs to have that pointed out.

And sometimes, especially in game threads or after a loss, posters can be drunk or more emotional than usual and say something they regret. Unfortunately once something has been said on the internet, it can be deleted, but it will never be forgotten.

I'm sorry I get on your case a lot. As part of my last job and also part of the Boy Scouts, I teach anti bullying communication on the internet. I've reported a lot of people outside this forum for their internet language and behavior. And sometimes your actions trigger an impulse inside me. It's sort of like the threads involving TReed. Many people intentionally try to get her goat. However, I don't believe any one poster should receive special privileges or protection. If we protect one person from being harassed, we should protect ALL people, and that includes trolls and those we disagree with.

I've found sometimes those people I disagree with sometimes make valid points and I learn from them. That's why I don't block or ignore anybody, including trolls. Other people, rather than arguing with trolls , simply ignore them. And surprisingly, while I post a lot, there are many threads I don't even open.

There are just certain posts that trigger my emotions. My professional training as a teacher and Boy Scouts leader has taught me to speak out for others who remain silent. Sometimes my responses are made to protect others' beliefs. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have become a lawyer. I certainly like to talk a lot.

Come on bigs, this is nonsense. No, when you make fun of someone who lives in a mobile home, you are not making fun of the people who made it. How far do you think this insult goes? Are we also making fun of the people who made the steel or cut the lumber that went into the trailer?

I get tired of this sort of thin skinned political correctness. We need to get back to saying what we mean, without others editing and interpreting the meaning. If we attempt to insult another poster here because they are being obnoxious, please understand that the insult is specifically directed to the target asshat, and does not imply any thing else.

Employing that logic, using a racial epithet towards one person is simply an individual thing and should not be taken as offensive by others of that same race - because you didn’t call them the name specifically.

Ok. o_O

Ok I'll say what I really mean! I'm tired of all you bullies who love to throw insults and make fun of anybody you feel like! Rather than engaging in conversation or a civil debate, many of you just resort to name calling. I don't care if the person is a troll or the mother of a player or a person with 25,000 posts! I'm tired of the foul language and I'm tired of the harassing of other posters. And on a lot of sports forums, you people would be banned for your actions and your words. Maybe Peegs has the right philosophy.

Your bad behavior and bad habits are ignored here, and often times you are worse than the trolls. I can't believe how much arguing goes on between fans of the same team who should be sharing the same vision.

And yes, in real life if a professional, educated person swears or harrasses somebody, I speak up and call them out. Call me a snowflake if you like. It just shows your own ignorance of using your own choice of words!

Bigs, I've tried to be nice about this today, and let it go. But, you're like a dog with a bone; you just won't let it go.

Respectfully, what I think you refuse to acknowledge is, much of the ire/wrath/namecalling(?) has been directed at "fans" from other programs, who come to this forum and trash it, our fans, our university, our program. Not all (!), but much of my ire has been directed toward them.

Now... I might have missed it, but you sure don't seem to have a problem with them. In fact, you've looked right over them and set your sights on me (lately). And received a "like" from one of them in the proces!. That's a problem, brother. When you're getting pats on the back from instigators, and you're not even aware of it, or willing to call it out, you lose all, and I mean ALL, credibility.

Now, I'm not saying one bad turn deserves another, but, candidly, I'm not going to put up with it. You can call me a "bully" if you like, I really don't give a rip.

Occasionally, I'll venture over to another team's forum. I did that with IU in recent weeks. I never . . . NEVER . . .would think of posting on a visiting team's forum like I've seen from some posters visiting here (NU, MSU, and, most recently, UofL posters).

Now, you can turn a blind eye toward that behavior all you like. I won't. And, it speaks volumes you're so tolerant of them and their behavior, but want to chirp at the Purdue fans.

Not cool.

Wo, I can understand your angst a bit, but here's what I decided to live by after losing my wife...and it's worked out fairly well. "If I let you, or someone else piss me off, anger me, or cause me grief, that's not their fault, it's mine for allowing them to get under my skin."

Amen twin, I had a short fuse and let people piss me off way too easily when I was in my 20’s. I learned to mellow out and now, I won’t give people the satisfaction of knowing that they got under my skin.

I take it this is directed at me? Just who do you think I am bullying?

Seriously, I try to make my arguments impersonal, but clear in what opinion I am refuting. However, when it comes to posters who troll this board, I have little mercy. I also happen to think people should speak their mind and be allowed to do so. That doesn't mean they won't be judged and held accountable by what they say.

By the way, I am not banned on Peegs.

Mathboy had it right. My post was in response to his post not purdue85.

I'm not saying my post was aimed at mathboy but rather it was in response to his question.

As for twin degrees. I'm not really mad or upset. I just feel there are many people out there that are afraid to express their true feelings. I also feel there are many others who are not equipped to really defend themselves or their opinions.

I hate double standards and I hate people who receive special privileges . I'm law oriented and believe laws apply to everyone equally. I also believe if you create rules, they are worthless unless they are enforced.

As for credibility, I don't post with the intention of gaining credibility people read my posts whether I have cred or not. To me the term cred applies to a person's beliefs and if he/she flip flops those beliefs. I believe from my first post until this one, my posts have basically been close to the same. I haven't changed very much. To me, that's my credibility. Whether you agree with my opinions, you know where I'm coming from. And if you want to go back in history ask destewart about bigreed on the old grid iron forum. I'm confident he'll tell you I haven't changed at all. Maybe my posts have become shorter. I don't claim to be an expert at football or basketball. However there are many other things I do know and I'm an expert at.

A troll actually liked one of my posts? That kind of makes me happy. I'm not trying to defend people who troll. But rather I'm trying to defend everyone's right to post their beliefs. To some, they may think they are trolling, but to others, what if the poster is just posting an opposing view? I was once banned from the gridiron forum for continually having an opposing view about Hazell and being very critical of the type of player he recruited. I called him the worst coach in division 1 history among other things. My posting status was returned after his first year when others started to agree with me. I took a lot of grief for being open about my opinions. But I stood my ground and received some respect for at least standing my ground and not changing my take. And to me that's what credibility is all about. I'm not a coach or sports announcer or a recruiter or some dude who tweets to players. I'm just a fan. And if you ask me a question, I'll reply.

I'm not mad at anyone. But several people have questioned my above posts, so this is my reply. It's not really accusing anybody but rather just saying where I'm coming from. I don't appreciate foul language or bullying of any kind. I see too much of it in the real world. There are other things in this world I'd like to fix. I can't fix everything, but I will keep trying.

I hopes this helps

There is a hot chicken place called Joella's that's pretty good. Not nearly as good as Hattie B's, but way faster and easier. There is a really good Irish pub called the Irish Rover on Frankfurt avenue that has amazing fish and chips, shepards pie, etc.

I hopes this helps

you mention "rights" and other nonsense. You just don't understand the credibility issue. If you want people to take you seriously, you have to maintain credibility.

If people post something and can't defend it, they need to figure it out. That's life. Not everyone agrees, and they don't have to.

I'll be done with this by saying, you're just going to have to get over it. And, stop bullying people with whom you disagree.

You simply don't seem to understand my posts at all. you can't discern the sarcasm from the reality, or my emotional tone. I'm not losing any sleep over these posts.

I believe I said several times I could care less about credibility, yet you still harp on it as if I want it or even need it. What's its purpose? people read my posts whether I have credibility or not. And most people have already formed an opinion about me and my posts before they open them. yet, they still open and read them anyway. So why do I need credibility? and why should I care? I clamed Purdue would go 6-6 last year and made the same claim this year and did not waiver. I said the bball team would make the sweet 16 the last two years. I admitted I don't follow Indiana high school football or basketball. I also admitted in terms of recruiting I follow national critics verses game films and tweets. Does that give me credibility? if not, I don't really care who believes me or not. Some of our trolls are more credible than our regular posters.

I got over it a long time ago, but you still want to discuss it. I'm beginning to think you're bored and just trying to initiate a conversation about credibility. yelling at trolls and arguing with people about credibility sure doesn't increase yours.

and rather than bullying people I disagree with, I'm just calling out people when they make objectionable posts or use objectionable language. And I don't call out 50 people a day or ten weeks later. I call them out directly after the action. if a person harasses somebody, or uses foul language, I'll call them out for doing so. I don't consider that bullying. I consider that calling a spade a spade. There's a huge difference in bullying a bigot and identifying one as such. The same applies with liars. Do you believe the press is bullying trump? or just publically identifying his lies? if a person is speeding, is telling the person he's going 50 in a 35 mph zone bullying him? or identifying to him he's going too fast? if a person's blood pressure is over 200 and they are smoking, what do you do? tell him to stop? or watch him kill himself? When a person is being harassed, and speaks back against the person harassing him, do you call that bullying the harasser? if I told you to get off my back and stop harassing me, would you call me a bully? if I defended somebody from your name calling, am I a bully? if I'm called a snowflake, that's a form of harassment. Am I not allowed a follow-up or reply?

if I wanted to bully people I disagree with, there is a long list of recognizable names I could post about. and they know who they are. I can tolerate people who disagree with my viewpoints. if they don't attack me personally, I don't bother them. Just ask clean face , doo dah day, twin degrees, or Southside. We disagree on many issues. We speak our mind. it's over. we all moved on.

and as for being done with a subject, I thought you already said you were done in your last post? I guess I was mistaken. I predict there will be a reply to this one. My credibility as a predictor is on the line.

This is TRUE! While not in Louisville, I just found out there is a restaurant in Evansville, in called the Kitty Cat Cafe, where you can go to eat, and then play with kittens and cats. And as fate would have it, the take home menu is the cats. Actually, the cafe has two rooms. And while eating, you can watch the cute kittens through windows. And after eating, you can play with the kittens. They are provided by the local humane society, and have all their shots and are available for adoption to the customers. So, yes, you can go to the restaurant and have a latte while picking out a kitten for your Christmas present.
