I saw the 8% reduction for a few years, but not the in half. The repubs would consider this a sacred cow, but Trump is also aware of the $600 hammers...

Oh, its more than just the Dems (and the neocon GOP). The Military Industrial Complex that Pres Eisenhower warned us about as well.

The real problem that extends everywhere is that they have no accountability for our money. Thomas Sowell’s searing critique of bureaucracy—“It’s hard to imagine a more stupid or dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong”—is more relevant today than ever.
W hat we have today is a revealing of what has went on all of our lives, and took Trump to reveal it. Whatever is found and attempt at accountability and disclosure on the finances and health of this country where some are hell bent worrying that the accuracy in the preliminary finds may not be accurate, instead of the powerful linkage to waste. I want a strong military it is one of the few things I think tax dollars should do, but I'm honest enough to know it is a cash cow as well and that sacred cow for many republicans is getting the same light on it...which is also good. Here is one of my favorite guys to hear speak. That old , folksy, slow way of making a point I enjoy since the obvious practical points are many times missed by most politicians
Well then he should govern and pass a budget! He has both houses. What's the problem? Make your cuts, quit crying and sending Elon to pretend fix things.
you do know there are repubs that have a vested interest to stop the findings? Here is an easy one for you. go to the https://doge.gov/spend and you can see savings if just going back to the 2019 level of spending.

Solving the waste, cutting the debt and reducing the government attempt to control through power cradle to grave unless you start reducing the blob? I like most people love what is going on, but there are going to be cuts that those affected either directly as in a personal job...or other ways outside of a direct job. If Trump and Elon do not find potential waste to cut...who or what else has shown a desire to do such?
The best way is to balance the budget. You can do your RIFing or cuts this way and then the agencies can plan to deal with it coherently. So say you want to reduce the DoD budget 8 percent. Then deal with your congressional committees to figure out what gets cut. Doing something random like, fire all probationary employees, is not smart and overall will not lead to cuts in poorly performing programs.
The next thing is to reform SS into more of a Ric-e trust style program and away from a ponzi scheme. This would make the costs much more predictable and would not rely on population growth. It would save 100s of Billions per year to just create a trust with 50k in it at birth that gets invested and then you access at retirement. Plus you'd get way more money at the end than what SS provides.

DOGE is looking for suggestions and so make one to them. Write in such a way that it is flagged easily so they can find it. BTW, the repubs decades ago wanted to make SS voluntary and the DEMs went into another scare tactic that most wouldn't understand. Even if I made it to retirement it would be so easy to end up more if I kept my money and was responsible for myself, but individual responsibility that leads to less dependence on the government is not something the government wants for OBVIOUS reasons.
The brainless brothers have convinced of two things.........without even trying.
1. This is about saving money. It's not. It's about remaking the government with their priorities.
2. Because they are actively working to reduce waste and save money, at least superficially, and no admin or congress has taken on the task before, you trust them completely to make the decisions that best serve our national interests. In every post you say no one has done it before. Therefore whatever they do is good with you.
If they are cutting government, yes it is good for me...and saving money is implicit is remaking government. How could they logically be different? The dem congress and some pubs shouldn't be trusted. Was it that long ago we forget all t hey did?

I have absolutely no doubt there is waste in every department of the government. I also have no doubt that in any large corporation there is waste. I have over the years seen % cuts in all departments...I have seen teacher rifts as well. There is no sacred cow in the government that is stream lined in my opinion. I don't call that a "shotgun" approach, but agree with what I believe you are accusing me. You apparently forgot that I stated I have some Libertarian leans and the government size is one of those "leans". I'm tight enough I don't like paying for deporting illegals...seems like there could be some government holding place that allows them to work for their flight. Why should the USA pay for their criminal activity? I could carry that to prisons as well...and might provide some job skill when they are released. You need to change your description of me from arrogant a$$ to arrogant, tight a$$ that squeaks when he walks!
