Good thinking and I’m sure bobinski is as forward thinking as you. Now is the time to go to brohm, shepherd, lambert, English and Hagen and say “hey that was awesome… let’s sit down and be proactive to keep you here”I expect to see one next week.
You don’t do it because it’s warranted all other things equal. You do it to deter him from considering an offer to straight up leave .. once things are going well you don’t want to start over.. be it with brohm, lambert, hagen, English, shepherd etc....because the question remains...was this year an anomaly or a trend...if next year he goes 8-4 minimum, then offer an extension... It's not like teams are banging on his door with offers ....He's not exactly a hot commodity.
7 year, $36 million Contract and a $1.7 million signing bonus that runs thru 2025 season. That would make him in the top ten pay of college coaches....he doesn't deserve a raise until he can put together, at the very least, 2-3, 8+win regular seasons.
So much for that house of cards thing, huhHell NO. No extension.
You overpay when you renegotiate when teams are knocking down his door. Do it now and you lock him up for more of a market value. No Indio would do that if he thinks it’s a good fit. I personally think it’s not a bad idea.....because the question remains...was this year an anomaly or a trend...if next year he goes 8-4 minimum, then offer an extension... It's not like teams are banging on his door with offers ....He's not exactly a hot commodity.
Keep the whole coaching staff. A great year.Good thinking and I’m sure bobinski is as forward thinking as you. Now is the time to go to brohm, shepherd, lambert, English and Hagen and say “hey that was awesome… let’s sit down and be proactive to keep you here”
Why? It’s how you keep them.. it’s not “fair”I would give the entire staff a nice bonus. I’m not in favor of giving a coach a new contract after every winning season. This years results were kind of the expected norm when we gave him his last contact extension. Just because he finally reached those expectations is no reason to renegotiate. With the philosophy of giving a new contract for a good year should we be asking for a refund for the previous three years when he was grossly overpaid?
This is idiotic. He’s going to get an EXTENSION not a new contract. The extension will include a modest increase for Brohm and more $ for assistants. Now is not the time to give Brohm and staff reasons to even think to leave. Purdue is on a good trajectory right now.I would give the entire staff a nice bonus. $20M is not close to low enough. Louisville cannot afford this.Louisville just went 6-6 and seem to be losing patience with Satterfield after getting trounced by rival Kentucky. I could see them making another push for Brohm if his buyout is low enough.
Just like an IU fan. That's why IU is stuck with Allen after being a one year wonder...30 years, 200 million. I don’t want to live to see another Hazel level 4 years again.
Especially when the coaching carousel seems it won’t stop spinning anytime soon. This is idiotic. He’s going to get an EXTENSION not a new contract. How do you know that?$20M is not close to low enough. Louisville cannot afford this.
Good thinking.. we don’t need that againLouisville just went 6-6 and seem to be losing patience with Satterfield after getting trounced by rival Kentucky. I could see them making another push for Brohm if his buyout is low enough.
To be fair brohm hasn’t even had a fully assembled veteran team.. that will come next yearJust like an IU fan. That's why IU is stuck with Allen after being a one year wonder...
All UL has to say is "Jeff, you've done great for Purdue. Brought them back to Tiller era results. They're better off now than when you first got there. Time to come home."Good thinking.. we don’t need that again
It’s public knowledge Louisville’s Athletic Department is hugely in debt. They’ve spent $$$ on facilities, on salaries, and contract buyouts like drunken sailors. Purdue is in better shape than Louisville right now.How do you know that?
They rank #16 in the nation in AD revenue at $141 Million. #1 in the ACC.

Revenue is the top line number. If you spend more than you make or have, you accumulate debt, which Louisville has over a number of years. They focus more on sports outside of football and MBB than many other schools do, too.How do you know that?

That is true, as well as the debt.Revenue is the top line number. If you spend more than you make or have, you accumulate debt, which Louisville has over a number of years. They focus more on sports outside of football and MBB than many other schools do, too.
Ugh the thought of starting over nowAll UL has to say is "Jeff, you've done great for Purdue. Brought them back to Tiller era results. They're better off now than when you first got there. Time to come home."
I wasn't really talking about Brohm. I was talking about Beorik, the reversible jacket fan (IU basketball/Purdue football). To be fair brohm hasn’t even had a fully assembled veteran team.. that will come next year
As well as defending and settling lawsuits due to jackass ex head coaches...It’s public knowledge Louisville’s Athletic Department is hugely in debt. They’ve spent $$$ on facilities, on salaries, and contract buyouts like drunken sailors. Purdue is in better shape than Louisville right now.
Absolutely. Pitino and Petrino amongst others. As well as defending and settling lawsuits due to jackass ex head coaches...
I like your approach .. no need to break the bank but you just wanna send the message “whatever you’re trying to make you can make it here.”You have to extend him for recruiting reasons anyway. We should pay a little extra to get an increased buyout, and to keep assistants. We don’t need to do what PSU or MSU did, but we do need to spend some money. We are making bank in the B1G, we need to keep the most important program thriving.
