importance of any Purdue Basketball or Football game relative to so many really important things in life that before "some" games my breathing shortens, I'm a bit more irritable...a bit more on edge I start getting a bit meaner, a lot more intense, a slight headache and sometimes a distant look through what it appears I'm seeing at my age? I have improved in my acceptance of whatever results happen very quickly, but the pregame still has anxiety ;)

I mean I'm not making any decisions into what happens, have little invested and fully aware that anything could happen and my life is relatively unchanged. Yet, Mich, MSU, OSU, IU and Maryland get my blood going a bit. I don't get that way if Purdue is really bad...except for playing maybe IU and dealing with the nongrads. Thankfully I get over things quickly...win or lose. However, this team has some REALLY great kids on it that have reached deeper than many to maximize their abilities more than most and so you want "THEM" to reach their goals. Have a little pregame Jack to prepare and have to decide how I watch the Iowa game since I may not be home at 12 that day? Anyway, nah...I suspect there are others afflicted like us but maybe they haven't sat around in a circle with group therapy enough to talk freely... :)

Some may dispute the accuracy of a Fitbit HR monitor, but I can say that I'm typically in the "Burning Fat" range for the entire 40 minutes of a PU MBB game, especially when it involves IU and MSU.

Now if only I would limit my barley hop intact at the time, I would probably be 15lbs lighter.
It is the carbs and so I stay away from the hops generally and go to Jack since rain is a good thing. rain makes corn and corn makes whiskey and whiskey makes my baby feel a little frisky

The only time that happened with me and was related directly to me is the day I got married. But I still get that anxiety for things that I have no control over, just as you. If you don't get that anxiety, you are dead.

You know ol' Amway mantra --- You can't really enjoy the highest peak unless you've been to the lowest valley. --- it's just your subliminal conscious making sure you can exuberate as high as possible in a few hours.

I'm still drawing circles on a dry erase board but the $$$ isn't flowing.

I know this great cleaning solution that will work on that board....will look good as new.....I only need about 15 minutes of your time to go over it....and say, why don't you bring a few friends....I'll bet they'd be interested in it too.

Could also be a signal you need to take Kim on a long weekend getaway.

And this, more than anything, has led to my drinking problem...................

I only get that way for every single Purdue NCAA tournament game and it's 10 times worse than the OP. A little bit for the BTT. I feel a big win coming on tonight!

Lot of truth with that quote!

Sounds like a good Purdue fan to me. We live for pain and anxiety. Now let's kick those Wolverine Asses!

I'm downing finger #3 as we type
I slipped a bit on my first...the bottle was cold and ended with 4+. Kim just came home and was surprised I ate without her. I told her she was probably going to have salad and I was ready for burgers and then she said she was thinking tenderloins which would have been fine. Getting ready... :)

I think since the early to mid 70s I could NOT have missed more than 5 games either in person, TV and one I recall on radio where Purdue played Iowa State in a close one and Zo took a charge from Holenberg (sp?) to win it? Rented a Motel in Florida in 79 just to watch the NIT. Now I already see problems in seeing live the Iowa game this year... :(

Kim's sister is moving Saturday and I told her I could help until 11:15 or after 2:30. I'll do whatever, but the game was scheduled in advance and other events should be able to move around them...

.
That's a dedicated fan - renting a whole Motel just to watch some games.
I think the Iowa State player's name is Fred Hoiberg.

Ha Ha...yeah, just one room twice for both days. The guy that rented it could have rented teh whole Hotel since he was partners in the horse business with Danny Lasater ) Clinton's Bond daddy and previous Ponderosa owner. :) That story is a whole another day! Go Boilers!

OMG, I remember that guy!

IIRC, he was Roger Clinton's (Bill's brother) dealer, (Roger was a coke addict) and was pardoned by Bill in the years before being elected President.

Man, that state was corrupt.

Yep, Danny was pardoned at the same time...85 like part of your moniker I think? Danny had an 1800 acre farm in Ocala, FL. After the pardon Roger woked on the farm with a gradeschool to Purdue friend who now is in the horse business in Ocala and it was his oldest brother that was a partner in the horse business with Danny. Brent bought Smarty Jones for a client, but haven't seen him in probably 10 years...

Our wedding was on the day of the first IU game in 1975
OMG...hell, my parents held up a sisters wedding until I could get cleaned up after pitching in little league years ago. I couldn't schedule that either, but a wedding was a scheduling choice! ;)

Wife is not feeling well and now I am sitting in a parking lot waiting for my daughter to get done with a mid year evaluation with her coach.

I can’t think of a dumber thing I have done 15 Min before a big game. DVR is great.

Good idea getting a beer right now maybe more than one.See how the start of 2nd goes!

I get a few butterflies before most Purdue games, but I always manage to shake off the losses by the next day.I had to miss the first half of the Purdue win in Gloomington in 1985 when RMK threw the chair because we had to go to Mc Donalds for my eight year old nephews birthday party!Yes,family obligations can get in the way sometimes at the worst possible times.
