We all know that Burke said that Hazell will be back next season. Is this guaranteed? Wouldn't they wait and do a season end review first and then decide? What if we get blown out the last 3 games, does that matter?

I think he will be. Burke's endorsement was pretty much a guarantee and a big F YOU to the fans and supporters.

And getting blown out these next 3 games won't matter.

Precisely, but it's not just Burke, it is also Daniels. A good president would can Burke and right this ship.

I have heard the "VOTE OF CONFIDENCE" used several times over the years......only to see the Head Coached canned at the end of the year..............they get blown out in the final 3 games, he will be..........A) Canned or B) stays and both OFF and DEF Cord will be gone......they can't be that stupid and keep everybody in tact.........

I'm not so sure. Hazell and Burke seem to be too cocky when it comes to changes. I could see them keeping the same coaching staff next season. We all know changes need to be made but they seem blind to it.

M organ has NO accountability or is evaluated 100% on things other than on field performance. We have a good CC runner, some nice divers, good golf. Men's basketball looks to be surging after 3 so-so seasons. Other than that, volleyball is the only sport that fans attend that we are good at. Baseball and softball struggle. And in several sports we are bottom of the bad.

Didn't know that baseball and softball were struggling, but frankly I really don't care.

WTH?!? Did I miss something official from MB?

Purdue's hand was forced to make a public comment when the media started asking Hazell about his job status. Previously, Purdue did it anonymously through Pat Forde.

It is not uncommon for this to happen and a coach be fired. For example, Miami publicly backed Al Golden and a few days later, fired him.

So no, it's hardly a guarantee.

I hope not but I am counting on Hazell being back next season.

I imagine we will get a great OC to join a lame duck staff... Figure Shoop was plan A... What is B?
Hazell will be the O/C next year and draw another extra $500 thousand.Hell he probably do the defense also just to save ol Purdue some money. God Bless D.H.

If Shoop goes will it also mean the end of the system with 6 guys in neon shirts signaling plays? Between that and our head coach having to dress completely different than the staff, the sideline looks like a circus.

Watch some other teams and we're no different. The worst are the teams that hold up signs with pictures on them to call plays.

I have seen the sandwich boards, which too are stupid, maybe a white shirt vs. a red shirt. But neon orange, blue, green drives me nuts. Especially when you don't see it at Alabama, Ohio State, etc. Also the guy who has to dress different, DH, grates on me. Saban, Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer, dress like a coaching staff. If you are going to wear a puffy white North Face vest like a sorority girl, you better be 10-2 instead of 2-10.

He'll be back. In spite of his record with the current climate that is developing on campuses the last thing Purdue will do is fire a black coach although I see where the Mizzou coach resigned maybe we can trade with them.

I'm still hoping against hope that after going 2-10 and getting shellacked by IU, there will be an announcement that Coach Hat had decided to step aside to "pursue other opportunities"
PU will pay a ransom and all can save face.
Unlikely, but I think we did something similar with Demoss in the 70s (yeah I'm an old guy)

I know I'm crazy but I don't think he's coming back. A beat down in front of an empty RA will be the final nail in the coffin.

Front page of the J&C this morning says he'll be back in 2016.

But again, this is nothing new.

What is said in real time is not "take it to the bank" material.

For example, Miami.

October 10, 2015: UM athletic director Blake James: Al Golden will be evaluated at year’s end
“As I said from the very start, we’ll look at everything at the end of the year and make an evaluation. Again, I think the thing you have to look at is if you lose [Saturday at FSU] how many games do you have left? [What if] you win all the rest of your games? That’s why you always have to evaluate at the end of the year.”

October 25, 2015: Golden Relieved of his Duties Effective Immediately
"I simply believe that now is the time to bring the Hurricane Family together and rally behind our young men.”

I myself also am on the fence with Hazell unless he refuses to make coordinator changes following the season. With just watching NFL pregame they showed Marvin Lewis and maybe Hazell will have as many lives as Marvin has had in Cincy and they're now 8-0.

I don't think Marvin never had any 1-13 seasons or a stretch where he went 6-27. No Pro organization (or college except for you know who) would have tolerated this.

I was looking some things up online today and ran in to the article I have linked. I invite any one to read through it and give an honest opinion of where Hazell would rank in what are considered the 25 worst BCS Era coaching tenures. I was really only comparing P5 hires because there have been some really bad ones in non power conferences, but I would think at this point Hazell would rank up there in the top 3-5 bad tenures at this point.

I was watching Michigan last night and wondered what would happen if DH and Harbaugh switched spots. I genuinely think with Harbaugh we would be 6-4 to 5-5. I think UM with Hazell would be 4-6. That is why even if there was real progress, I look at DH, like Hope, and know 6-6 is the ceiling. But next year, 4-8 tops.

Jim Young and Joe Tiller flipped losing programs even though it did take Young a second year. Basically with someone elses players, shows what coaching can do.

It has to be top 5. We went to a bowl game prior to Haztaking over and although we had issues, there was nothing to indicate that were destined to be a 1-11 the year he took over with our only win against a FCS team. The other observation is that most P5 programs have losing coaches on a much shorter leash than the 3+ years that we've allowed Haz.
