Elliott didn't get many offers because he's very small and not that quick to make up for his size. He was running through huge holes. He's a good player, but just not in the Power 5.Bell is the best overall player in the State because of his impact on defense and offense at the highest level. But if the award took into account stats, it should be Romier Elliott. He was absolutely ridiculous this year. I think he had over 3000 yards and 40 touchdowns. He had over 300 rushing yards in a single game and I think averaged something silly like 9-10 ypc against the highest level of competition.
I have no clue why everybody is sleeping on him. He has one D1 offer and that just happened, Western michigan. He should have an offer from every in state school. This reminds me of Desmond Bane’s recruitment. Bane absolutely showed out with ridiculous numbers and played really well at the tournaments he went to. Somehow, his only big offer was TCU and they got away with absolute robbery by landing him. Romier is Knox 2.0. Is he better than the two we got already in the ‘19 class? Not sure, but is it worth risking? Maybe there is a red flag I don’t know about, but this numbers at that level aren’t something to ignore.
I don't follow Football nearly as closely as Basketball, but with the state of the BB Paige I am finding myself over here a lot more. That said, there has to be something here with Romier Elliott. How could so many schools be missing the stats you point out? Why would his coach not be screaming from the rooftops?Bell is the best overall player in the State because of his impact on defense and offense at the highest level. Rivals shows that Romier Elliott committed to S. Illinois, in 8/6/18. It also shows an interest in Purdue and Indiana, but neither of them offered.Bell is the best overall player in the State because of his impact on defense and offense at the highest level. Thanks for the info. That's a much better reason than I had in my head.I just re watched his film. I just graduated from a MAC school this past spring. I worked for the team for four years as a student coach. I called up one of our assistants and he kind of echoed my thoughts on Elliott. He is a product of his environment. He has a great O-Line and a pretty great WR that needs attention on the outside. He is advertised at 5'7 but topped out at 5'5 when he visited. He also didn't see much that stuck out to him on the film (cutting, speed, etc.). Pretty far down the list on our recruiting board.
