Dakich gets a lot of grief from this board, but he's always giving props to Purdue.Dan said IU celebrates every time they beat a McNeese State like they've won another banner on a broadcast the other day..

Nice!He and Papa Eifert having a pitcher at Harry's right now.
I wasn’t sure how to interpret that comment. At first it sounds like a great endorsement, then you wonder if he is saying we ought to be recruiting better.Liked his comment during the broadcast today about how great an atmosphere PU is.
‘I don’t know why the top recruits in Indiana aren’t lining up to play at PU.’
Couldn’t agree more - we have the best fans in the state. Let’s get some results with this squad this year.

I agree for the most part. If he could tone down the color commentary just a bit he would be great. There's no one I would rather listen to during Purdue games. He's funny, knowledgeable and connected to players and coaches in this state.
Exactly this....love his local knowledge but hate that he just keeps talking over the game.I agree for the most part. If he could tone down the color commentary just a bit he would be great.

I don’t think our recruiting has been bad the past 4 years but we definitely missed on some dudes.
Could be better for sure
FIFYi wonder if the "misses" were because someone was willing to pay???
Just saying he left it open for interpretation by the way he phrased his comment. He could have just said what a great environment and academics Purdue has and how appealing that is for recruits. Instead it was phrased as I wonder why they DON'T come here despite the environment and academics. Maybe he was alluding to dirty recruiting. If so it was very subtle.Only to those who wanted to hear that. He is a big Painter fan...
I had to turn down the sound during that period. It was an exciting, hard-fought contest, yet the announcers were talking about something that had been discussed over and over on other forums. And when they weren't talking about the Louisville situation, they were promoting upcoming ESPN broadcasts.Enjoyed the announcing later in the game. Spent too much time not following/commenting the game in the beginning and talking about the Louisville situation. Lots was happening on the floor and neither announcer was paying attention.

Holy Over-Reaction, Batman!Just saying he left it open for interpretation by the way he phrased his comment. .
So, if somebody told you they can't understand why you don't have the hottest wife in the neighborhood because you have so much going for you, you wouldn't think twice about it? Or why haven't you gotten any better job offers because you are so smart and good at your job? Do you have to be insecure to read into those statements? I mean, it wouldn't hurt my feelings, but I certainly think it would be fair to question their intent.Holy Over-Reaction, Batman!
We’re so insecure we can’t appreciate an awesome compliment of our school and hoops atmosphere, made totally live in the midst of an intense game???
Wow....
Context is your friend here- your examples are totally different than the context in which Dakitch made his comments ...So, if somebody told you they can't understand why you don't have the hottest wife in the neighborhood because you have so much going for you, you wouldn't think twice about it? Most of them can’t even get our players names right. I’ll take Dakich.I get how he rubs people the wrong way, but I never listen to his radio show. I would rather have him than anyone else call a Purdue game.
He’s always very complimentary of Purdue, painter, Keady, etc. and he has local knowledge unique for a commentator.
If my other options are Bilas, Vitale, or Magic Bus Bill Walton, I’ll take Dakich.I get how he rubs people the wrong way, but I never listen to his radio show. I would rather have him than anyone else call a Purdue game.

You can have him. He comes on our premium board and picks fights with some of us. I think he’s still upset that his boy Alford didn’t get the job. But we’re very happy with Archie and I suspect most Purdue fans are also unhappy our AD didn’t pick Alford.I like him doing Purdue games.
