Cracking me up

If you want to do the play dumb, bad faith reading, pretend you don't know what things mean, answer questions with questions routine you go right ahead. I'll pass.
Bone said November and December games don’t matter. I said wrong. Do you agree with Bone ?

I love the “who are we gonna get that’s better!?” crowd.
We’ll know when he gets here.
There are EIGHT active coaches with a championship - it ain’t easy. Painter isn’t perfect, but we would end up like IU with a decade of crappy coaches if we start shopping and end up on the carousel ride. Be patient. Bo Ryan was 67 before he took Wiscy to back to back FFs.

My thoughts are a lot of the players coming to Purdue are coming here purely because of Painter. If you replace him, I doubt you would get the same caliber of player to come here. Purdue is not on the top of very many players wish list to begin with. Zo was a great recruiter, but can’t coach. Webber was ok.

And here is the issue. There may be many coaches better than Painter. However it’s doubtful any of them actually want to come to coach at Purdue! Look at our recent football hire. A lot of fans came up with big name coaches they’d like to see Purdue hire but none of them were interested! So Purdue hired a young assistant coach and is hoping for the best! You may love smart and Chaka, but I have never heard either express an interest in Purdue! If Painter leaves we will likely hire a former assistant. And if we do, he will probably run the same defense and offense that painter runs and would recruit the same type of players.

If Painter leaves, it’s very doubtful our basketball program would go in a different direction as you might want and hope.
Disageee 100%. 90% of the reason players choose a school is because of the coach, not the school. A better recruiting HC could turn Purdue into a recruiting destination.
As for who has expressed interest? You act as if coaches are out there shopping themselves publicly, talking about all the places they’re rather be than where they currently are. That’s not how it works.

Be patient? It’s been 42 years….18 of those under Painter. How much more patience do we need?

If you lose all those games, you don’t make the tournament.
You’re missing the point.
The apologists point to our great wins in Nov and Dec as verification of Painter being a great coach; The realists point to losses in March to double digit seeds as Painter not being a great coach.
Are those games equally important?

You have any data to back this up?
I would agree with bonefish’s disagreement but would disagree with his thought process! Yes, when it comes to basketball athletes 90% of them will choose a coach over a school. I highly doubt any Purdue basketball player came to Purdue because of its awesome pharmacy school. And in today’s college basketball world, very few players use their basketball scholarship for the purpose of getting an awesome education. When was the last time Yale or Harvard landed a top 100 recruit?

However the part I disagree with is I believe Purdue is able to attract the caliber of players they do because of Painter. Every year, Painter has one of the top 30 recruiting classes in the NCAA. How many other coaches can match that success? And after you name those coaches, Then tell me how many of those coaches who out recruit Painter can actually produce a better record! Zo outrecruited Painter several times, but he was never able to produce better results.

And now after you have named the few coaches that outrecruited Painter and also produced better results than Painter, name those coaches who would actually want to come and coach at Purdue for the same salary Painter is receiving. I highly doubt Self would leave Kansas to coach at Purdue, I doubt Calipari would leave Kentucky! The guy at Duke isn’t leaving Duke to come to Purdue. Howard isn’t leaving Michigan to come to Purdue. The guy at ucla isn’t leaving ucla to come to Purdue.

You say you want Painter fired! Name one coach who has outrecruited Painter and outperformed Painter that actually would have any interest in the Purdue job For the same salary. It’s a given that Purdue is not going to buy out Painter or pay a new coach more than they are currently paying Painter.

I agree there are many things I disagree with about Painter’s coaching philosophy. But the hard reality is you are not going to be able to attract a better coach to come to Purdue. And if you doubt me, go back in history to when Painter was hired and go back further to when Keady was hired. Tell me what hall of fame coach was interested in the job and applied for it and was turned down? Did Williams or MCGuire or Pitino or coach K or Calipari want the Purdue job when Keady was hired? Did any of them want to replace Keady when painter was hired? Did they even express an interest?

It’s easy to say fire Painter! But don’t be stupid like Morgan was when he fired Hope! Before you say fire the coach, you need to have somebody in mind to hire that actually wants the job. Otherwise you end up with the second coming of hiring Hazell or you end up like IU

Recent struggles against double digit seeds is not the whole story. The whole story takes into account his entire tenure at Purdue. And, to call Purdue fans “entitled” is ridiculous. There’s no history from which to become entitled. We’re just hungry…starving…ravenous…for a return to the Final Four…a National Championship would be nice, too, but a FF would suffice…so, throw us a frickin’ bone, CMP.
and he's into his windup............

Show me a school who fired a coach, then hired the new coach at the fired coaches same salary. If that's happened, it would be extremely rare. If schools are targeting 3-4 coaches as their ideal candidates, they're most likely going to have to sweeten the pot, because you're expecting that new coach to provide better performance than the fired coach, therefore, you pay up for that upgrade.
