Cornell OL Picks Up a Purdue Offer

It’s cool but unless they know something we don’t.. like moussa being ready to be RG at a high level next year (I’m not saying that’s the case)… we need a right guard bad

We may have 19. But who will we have returning that will be ready to start and/or play significant minutes?
Exactly. We need quality, not quantity. Rushing, we are dead last in the Big Ten for the third consecutive year.

Purdue has 19 OL combined with incoming freshman and returning players next year. Surprises me they are looking for more.
I've got 17, five of who will be true freshmen. Who am I missing?

(2018)
Miller

(2019)
Craig
Holstege
Monnot

(2020)
Hartwig
Bycznski
Fox
Kaltenberger

(2021)
MBow
Moussa
Alstott
Richards

(2022)
Liston
Oben
Carpenter
Preciado
Watson

Also, let's not we forget that we lost 5 OL in the last year due to retirement. My guess is we'll see more of that plus a visit or two from the Turk between now and the spring. We were in a similar situation numbers-wise last year and brought in Witt to infuse strength and experience.

OL recruiting and development is inexact science, and not something this staff has perfected, so I think they are going to keep relying on the portal to supplement.

stunning that psu is right above us, they usually have a corral of AA RB's

If that’s true might as well ask them to move on.
As in not ready because they haven’t been on campus that long. If you aren’t getting four stars, and sometimes even if you are, you shouldn’t expect good big ten level contributions to come before halfway through their third year at the earliest, sometimes a year later.

Mbow, alstott and Moussa will be in their second year next year. Expecting them to be good every down big ten linemen is foolish. If one of them is then that player is an outlier

If players aren’t ready after two years then they may never be ready. It’s time to part ways on both sides as the game has changed.

Exactly. Most people were thinking OL could be a semi-strength of this team coming out of the spring and then we lost 4-5 experienced guys over the summer.

he has good size and experience, and our coaching staff made him an offer. Obviously, they must like him and are not that excited about the developmnt of some of our current linemen.

When you recruit MAC-caliber linemen, you end up with MAC-caliber linemen.
