How about Bo Pellini for D coordinator, and giving Steve Sarkisian a second chance as O coordinator?

I think you might be able to get Pellini so he could get back at Nebraska. As far as Sarkisian, everybody deserves a second chance. True?

I don't think that Pellini at YSU can be called "big time." Also, many bigger programs might not want to touch Sarkisian.

There is no way in hell Purdue would hire anyone that hid booze in the football trunk. EVER.

As for Pelini, he wont leave YSU unless its for another head gig.

Okay-bear with me. Maybe, Pellini could be lured, with the outside chance he would be next in line if/when Hazell is canned. If Sarkasian shows the proper steps taken, i.e. detox/rehab, can he be given another chance?

Why would any coach hire a coordinator who would be a good candidate to replace him if/when he is fired? That makes no sense. It could be an added bonus for MB and maybe a bargaining chip to get that person- offer a bit more salary to commensurate with experience.

Purdue might not get rid of DH at the end of the year and they sure won't drop him mid-season. The idea to bring in an OC/DC that could be such a great HC candidate and that we start 1-5 and this guy goes 6-0 is insane.

Just promote from within our current crop of losers/staff.
Next season will be a f'ng cluster and they'll all be gone anyway.
The only possible exception would be a top flight head coach in waiting arrangement.
Anyone seriously holding out for big time hires or some big wow turn around in our football program is just fooling themselves.
Athletics , at Purdue, are incredibly poorly conceived and fostered.
Truly small minded , think small, we can't do any better amateur mindset.
Nothing will get much better until someone with some courage and vision is overseeing the athletic department.

We are assuming Hazell is making the hiring decisions?

I'm not against Sark being the OC per se, but the dude needs more than 3 months to dry out before he gets his next job.

We're not going to hire anybody with a smidgen of a blemish on their record. That's why we got Mr Clean that is cleaning us out.

My completely uninformed opinion is we are likely to hire either (1) a former OC/DC at a P5 school who's currently out of work (2) a current position coach at a successful P5 school or (3) a young OC/DC at a G5 or FCS school with great results. My preference is 3 > 2 > 1, but I suspect it is most likely 1.

I personally think our OL was much improved this year, both in run and pass blocking. They were by no means a strength but at least were serviceable.

Even if he gets dried out, one day on the job with Sister hazell will have Sark flying back off the wagon.

I feel like our DC will be internal. Don't think an internal candidate at OC will get any butts in seats.

I don't think any OC that we're going to get is going to have enough cachet to put butts in the seats, unless we beat some decent teams early in the year.

Burke will probably just tell Freeman and Malone, "hey when you're done coaching your position groups, could you go ahead and throw together some quick game plans for Saturday?"

or even worse we catch another NFL guy Peter Principling down like Shoop ::cough:: Matt Cavanaugh

The first call should be from Burke to Tressel to come and serve his penance for vouching for Hazell in 2012.

I like Tedford but supposedly he prefers the West Coast. Since we're talking older out of work coaches, what about Wanestedt?
