Coach Painter finally speaks out on Northwestern’s illegal tactics.

If I’m painter I tell Zach let it go the first time and he will talk to the refs. After half time, slam down as hard as you can and start dislocating shoulders and breaking bones.
That's what he did to MSUs center and MSU got called for a foul. So it works.

Seriously. Take one of the football d linemen or linebackers as a walk on and send them out to take out the best player on the other team. take the "T" and play on without their best player. Sad to say that's the only thing that will wake up the NCAA, BT and officials.

Just let Zach start throwing 'bows to clear out in one single game. That will get some attention.

I like this idea. Maybe we bring TKR of the bench after Painter sees this happen

Now, where are all the coaches that no more about this game? Zach and coach complaining tells me what you don't know😉

time for Edey to use his hockey background

Agree with some on here that it’s time to adapt to the way the game’s being called. Give like you get. Especially the big maple, Gillis, maybe Furst and TKR are big enough to dish some paybacks.

Dr. Tom Davis, the old Iowa coach, used the defensive approach if everybody is grabbing/fouling the refs can only call one at a time. Seems to be the approach lately.

The old Illinois teams with Lucas Johnson were masters of the foul then foul a guy again after the whistle because the first foul had already been called.

I think Purdue is coached to play D without fouling/grabbing/holding/hand checking, etc. They do not play a "physical" defense, especially on the perimeter. A couple years ago the officials said they were going to clean things up to allow freedom of movement for the offense and Painter adapted his style.

Every year since things are cleaned up in the non-conference and then once conference play starts the officials seem to allow more as the season goes on. Teams like Wisconsin, Rutgers, and now Northwestern have coaches who realize this and coach their guys to play physical because it won't get called especially at home.

Tennessee plays D this way. Alabama beats Tennessee 9/10 on a neutral court last night if more freedom of movement is allowed.

I don't think Painter adapts his style because in the tournament it is supposed to get cleaned up. A great example is the Texas game. They tried to play their physical style and were called for fouls all night. Purdue is currently top 20 in defensive efficiency without mugging on the perimeter, so in a tighter called game they will be fine, while these physical teams will struggle.

I understand wanting Purdue to change their style, but I think Painter is making the right play here. The only problem is if the refs swallow their whistles in the NCAA's....

I think Edey should foul more later in games. Why? Fouling comes from many things, stupid fouls, reaching, bad positioning, great offensive players on the other side etc. One thing that causes fouls is aggressiveness. Zach is aggressive and smart. But maybe he could turn it up even another notch late in games if he has only one or two fouls and cause more missed and blocked shots.

If you think the Purdue NW game was rough, watch the Ala/Tenny game right now on ESPN, it is next level rough.
I watched and it was noticed in this game too. I know I have biased eyes, but I still think ours was worse. At Tennessee, it was almost like the refs hated that Rose of Alabama song.

The famous philosopher Mike Tyson once said “everyone has a plan until they get hit in the
mouth “. Purdue kinda looked that way versus rutgers, iu, and nw. Here’s hoping next time they get “hit” they’re ready to give it like they got it.
