Somehow, Purdue is in the "Matrix."

BoilerGal....go to edit, and near the top right of the thread (next to the unwatch/Post New Thread boxes), there should be a drop down (with a tool emblem) for you to click and choose to edit the Title.

Awesome to listen to Coach Keady. Worth every minute to hear his stories and perspective......3am practices, one-year contracts.....loved the answer about the "chair-toss".....typical Gene Keady....."Hell I was pissed at Steve Reid.....went 3-6 on the FT's. You can't do that....."

Fun interview. Everyone here should have a listen. Dakich even said it was his personal favorite interview he's ever done on the show.

I thought the story he had told about getting a couple of technicals at a game there and then Knight telling him that he needed to calm down was pretty classic as well, and I think it is actually pretty cool that they not only remain friends, but that they talk once a month he had said...those games when those guys were the respective coaches were flat out awesome games more often than not...some epic games in the history of the rivalry.

I can still remember a game when I was about 12/13...Purdue lost at home, pretty sure it was to Michigan...we had hung around to try to see the players and get autographs, and I remember Todd Mitchell coming out after a short visit to the locker room with his practice gear on...his parents had asked why he had not changed as they were going out to dinner, and he said that he couldn't, as Coach had called a practice...Knight had done the same I remember after a game that they lost at home early in the year to Miami, OH...in fact, in that case, they never even went back to the locker room I don't believe, as I can remember them doing the post-game show and them mentioning that practice had commenced already.

My roommates best friend went to IU, and he roomed with Cheaney and Reynolds...used to hear some great stories...Todd Leary was sitting in on one of the local sports talk shows this week, and he had some amazing and good stories as well.

You might be getting your seasons mixed up: IU lost at home to Miami (OH) in their opener of the 1983-1984 season (Alford's freshman year). The only times Purdue lost at home to Michigan while Todd Mitchell was playing were his first two seasons (1984-1985 and 1985-1986).

I thought Leary was in prison.

Thanks for the clarification...I did not intend to even reference a particular season or seasons, but I see how it could have been taken that way. I did not remember when exactly it had happened, but, your timeline that you provided is no doubt accurate...and lines up with about when I had thought it had happened...I knew that Alford was on that IU team, but did not remember that he was a freshman...and I knew Mitchell was early in his career at Purdue as well, and I believe it also was during his freshman year.

Leary spent a year in prison...he was in studio on WNDE on Tuesday and Wednesday...Tuesday was all about what had happened and his time at IU...it was interesting certainly...yesterday was more about just college basketball in general from what I had heard, and then the last 30 minutes were more stories about his time at IU.
