Young Texan is our only commit for 2016 thus far . For those of you who follow me on twitter you know I track the recruits . This year I have had just the one commit to track . Although I am limited to one there has been plenty of basketball crammed into one player . He has played twenty games in six weeks . Atascocita is ranked # 1 by USA Today and MaxPreps . There is no question that Edwards is the reason why . They have played in three of the nations most elite tournaments one in Texas another in Minnesota and this week in Missouri . Not only have they won all of them but Edwards has won the MVP in all three . I have watched only 9 of his 20 and only online .
So what are we getting from this 3 time MVP ? He is an elite shooter no one questions that he routinely hits 3 or 4 three's in a row . He is an elite defender no one questions that you don't have seven steals in a game unless you are . And he does so much more you won't see his head down or his feet not set . He runs the floor thru multiple defenders with ease . He passes extremely well and it appears as though he reads the minds of his teammates . I am guessing but I would say he is averaging around 25 per but when you beat a team by 72 why does it matter . He scored 32 vs the # 3 ranked team and his team won by 11 . In his last game he scored 27 in three quarters the game was a blowout against a team from Arkansas . He can score when his team needs it but once they have the game put away he defers .
What we are not getting is the cocky selfish ball hogging show boater . He avoids the lime light and is a boring interview . It would be rare to hear him say " I " in a typical interview he says my teammates did this or that and that's is why we won . I am sure many of you saw him wearing the Purdue gear picking up trash after a 31 point win . Yeah that is who he is . I always say forget the rankings or the stars they mean nothing . He is proving me right . All he has done is take on all comers and won every time . He is a winner with a lions heart and an elite shooter /scorer .
