there are 7 BIG 10 teams currently qualified to accept a Bowl invitation and one of those teams (Iowa) could end up with a 6-6 record.
Either Purdue or IU will end up with a 6-6 record which would be the 8th qualifier. . Minn has an outside albeit slim chance of ending up 6-6
Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland could all end up with a 5-7 record albeit very doubtful. .
Maryland plays Penn St. Nebraska plays Iowa, Minn plays UW and Rutgers plays Mich st. Of that bunch, the only game that looks like a possible upset is Nebraska over Iowa. the game is at Nebraska and could be an emotional one.
Looking above, the BIG 10 has 10 affiliations. and tie breakers are not used by Bowl games. A team with a 5-7 record could be selected, but it's possible the bowl would get a choice of Minn, Nebraska, Purdue, Maryland or Rutgers. if you were that Bowl game in Texas, which one of those 5 teams would you choose?
I doubt both Miami and Clemson make the championship series.
So win or lose, it would appear Purdue at 6-6 at best might be invited to music city bowl, but more likely would go to Pinstripe, Foster farms or Quick lane. and at worst at 5-7 would still have a chance at going to the Quick lanes or Bowl game in Texas.
the easy solution? Just win and everything will take care of itself.
