Announcers have called it out at least 3 times.

Can’t stop a team (especially the #4 team in the country) if you can’t get lined up correctly.

I’ve counted 7 times in the second quarter where we didn’t cover their offense’s formation surface. Makes it THAT much easier to ID coverage and know where you have a mismatch.

We suck…why make it easier for an already good team?

You just don’t understand the genius that is Walters defense.

Actually he is a thief. Fooled Bobo into believing he can coach. Bobo too arrogant to admit he royally f’d up. Most people get fired when they get fleeced for millions.
I think Bobo knows at this point. But until he fires Walters, he can't undercut him in public.

I was actually going to bring up one play on this topic. On Warren's 40 yard TD run, they split Allar wide right along the Penn State sideline. Guess who was there to "cover" him? None other than Dillon Thieneman. Great scheme to have the guy who is supposedly our best tackler and defender completely out of the play.

Obviously, CRW bit on it.....

I don’t know what to say. Couldn’t watch live so had to watch it late. Difficult to watch. Makes me sad that we have wasted 2 years of Mock, Gus, Klare, and Thieneman’s college career. This is the worst Purdue team I have ever seen and shockingly from a star perspective this team is probably twice as talented as the Hazel teams which had 3 years of dead last recruiting in the Big Ten.

I hope we somehow turn this thing around in short order. I really don’t want to watch another 2 - 4 years of a team playing this bad.

Was there anyone yesterday that didn’t know as soon as #44 lined up in the backfield for the direct snap, that it was going to be a run to the left side?
Except for our defense of course…

I don't see Mock and Thienneman coming back if Walters stays....and I'm sure there will be others bolting too...Bobo has no choice but to let Walters go. No decent recruits coming in( good ones have already decommitted) He can't judge portal talent or any asst coaches .,this is plain to see!! 100% sure ...He gone!
Klare will get paid to go somewhere as well. I don't think Mock is that big of a loss. He's a decent back, but has no burst or second gear.

This is another example of what I was talking about. You can blame Walters all day. But it is his assistant coaches who should be teaching his players how to line up correctly! It’s the assistants who should be instilling discipline into the players.

The question is are we recruiting a lot of really stupid players who don’t have a clue on how to play football? Or are we just not taking the time to properly teach and develop them?

My money is on the latter!

Walters hired the assistants, period. Walters is accountable for what the assistants are coaching. Its become painfully obvious Walters is not a good evaluator of talent across the board (players and coaches). He also does not appear to have a grasp of what the coaches and players do or even expected to do on a day to day basis. For example, earlier in the year he had no idea that the QBs spent so much time in the film room.

Walters seems to have taken the Hazell CEO approach, which is to let the assistants do all the "coaching".

The only 2 coaches who seem to be coaching are probably Conard (RBs) and whoever the TE coach is (Sinz?)

the accountability starts and stops with the head coach. No coach has ever fumbled, thrown an interception or gotten a PI, but they're still responsible for it.

I respectfully disagree, Bone. I know you’re a big speed and athleticism guy - metrics that show up early in recruiting rankings. But the full picture emerges a little more clearly when you look at data around production. You can’t deny he’s been productive. That’s as much a factor of the way his mind works, and the way he controls his body, as any of the metrics that affect recruiting rankings. The dude gets his job done, and he is a bright spot.

I think you misunderstood me. Klare is one of the few bright spots on our offense. Good athlete, good route runner, solid hands. He'll play in the NFL. I think if Walters is kept around, Klare will shop his services and find a winning program that features the TE.

I was unclear in my last response - I was referring to Mock. I think he would be a huge loss. Agree on Klare.

I think Mock gets the most out of his talent. He runs hard, seems to have figured out the fumbling problem of last year. But he's not a difference maker. He'll get that 3-6 yards, but none of our RBs have that ability to get the corner and outrun people. As a former walkon now on scholie, I'm sure he's grateful for that but I don't think there's much NIL opportunity for him out there in the market.
