But I love kids like Furst. Good kid, working toward a higher academic goal, gave it his all, ect. I am proud my alma matter attracts kids like Furst.
Furst might not win us a national championship, but he will be a winner at life, and I can always root for a kid like that.
Yes, that is a good team as is, but if they get another that fills another need...it makes them even better
I'm pretty sure that person would say they meant it "should" have been obvious and now that it is obvious he's doing it. No one says he is refusing to have the best team because he is being stubborn, sometimes, just like everyone in the history of humanity, he gets stubborn about some stuff and it takes him a minute.
I just think coaches disagree amongst themselves on some things as do fans as well as fans and coaches. Sometimes there are things considered that may not be obvious to others. It doesn't really matter as Matt will do what Matt thinks is best and if he starts to think something else is best he will do that. One could argue the good and bad with giving to much to the asst coaches or a variety of things.

It's a little amazing to me. When people said Matt should use the portal more it was Matt knows what he's doing, it's a culture, you don't know what you are talking about.
Guess what...it was something he was stubborn on that a lot of folks saw that it took him a minute to see. To his credit, his eyes seem open now. But pointing out that maybe staying old school in the current environment was like trying to draw to an inside straight was correct.
People get invested here in "old school" because it's a very conservative fan base. So it's not surprising some of them get in their feelings that a kid might prefer starting (and or getting better money) somewhere else than being a role player here.
I get that. It’s fun watching good kids develop over 3-4 years.
For example: I can’t name 5 Purdue football players right now. I’m not sure if I’ll be following much longer if the whole team turns over every year.
If the team plays well then great, if they don't then bad. Same as it ever was.
Athletic, for sure. But watching them playing the basketball more than not throughout the season, that had been so painful.
For example, only players moving while Braden was attacking Houston, were TKR and Loyer.
MC and CH were just standing still on the right corner (albeit the great corner 3 by CH..)
Time and again, those were the scene. Not great for Motion offense.
Whoever is/are coming in likely be contributing lot more in more ways in Offense and Defense.
Reasons that these two are leaving may be they know something that we are guessing.
And our guesses are touching the realities in Painter's game going forward.
If and when core 3 move on, that is what it is for CBB. Hopefully, they stay.

Pointing out that players enter the portal knowing where they're going next. IOW, they've been tampered with.
Many of us just like the way it used to be when players came for the school and an education and were blessed to play a sport. Now kids don't give two chits about that.

Ya I laugh when I hear the players interviews and they say how much they love their brothers . While that may be true they can also live another locker room if the price is right
I wonder if teams have contacted Heide & Colvin, with more money offered than what Purdue was giving each.
Not for me. If it’s a whole batch of new players every year, I will lose interest.

Yep, just like coaches, AD's and administrators can leave if they think a different school is better for them. All of us would feel differently if that was our kid wanting a different opportunity. Our views are jaded because we are fans of this team and that's all we care about.

Do the math there are few minutes to go around 200 minutes per BS -40=160 TKR-31 = 129 Fletch -31 = 98 Cluff/Daniel -40=48 Cox/Harris-35=13 minutes remaining for Benter, West and Burgess If they are splitting 13 minutes, they may exit next year. Cam and Myles ate up 38 minutes per producing 10 pts and 6 rbs. Huge upside for both. Hearing Cluff got close to 1 million for his last year clearly, we are in it to win it. With more transfers coming, I think Cam and Myles couldn't risk it.
I think CMP would like to see less min for BS… maybe 35. I’m also not sold that Fletch will get that many again.
You are missing 10 minutes going from 98 to 48, but I get your point. I saw Cam getting close to 20, but that assumed no other additions.
A huge hit??? They were the inconsistent links of the chain to this year's team. Everyone talked about Purdue's big three this year but the fact is that players 4 through 7, not counting the freshman, didn't consistently show up....
You're not wrong...we liked the athletic ability and some flashes of decent play, but couldn't count on consistent production from them.
That's why we need a flex4-3 to cover that issue and Cam would have been that guy.
Unfortunately, we need to move forward and get a replacement for Cam. He'll need to defend well and also score when the opportunity is there. I believe our rebounding issues will look better next year with the roster we have.
