Purdue ran very few called runs. The RB's almost have to stop their momentum while Appleby decides if they are getting the ball or not. It's just not fluid. Did anyone else think this? Knox and Markell were at their best when they hit the hole at full speed it just rarely happened.

I think the zone read is good against teams with better D-Lines, but Purdue was winning the battle in the trenches.

Yep, most exchanges happened in front of the QB as the back was already at the line of scrimmage with AA reaching forward for the handoff to be completed.

Holding onto the ball way to long....and regardless who got the ball, both of them were so close to the line already the defense didn't have to pick which guy to follow.

I just don't think AA is well equipped to run the read/zone option, he's a big strong Boy with no speed, not gonna fool anyone.
A few more screens and some play-action will have a better effect IMO, let's re-group and Blast ISU......Boiler Up and Hammer It Down

"LET THEM RUN THE BALL SHOOP!" Good thing my wife was not at home, since I was screaming at the television like a lunatic each time they ran the zone read or passed horizontally.
