What a travesty...no wonder at all why the football program is what it is, and no doubt why Purdue athletics suffer mightily due to the (mis)guidance of its "director". Stay the course...stick to the plan...progress is being made...it is like North Korean radio, all propaganda and zero substance.

Never mind the obvious...which other AD had to get time on the BTN to justify the lousy performance and results of their football team?

Love that like Hazell, Morgan is going to "take a long hard look at things"...maybe someone should buy the collective clowns some glasses or something so that they can actually see what is happening.

There is nothing to look at. It is all blank. Show me ANY progress.

Loved the lame quote about needing to remind himself that Hazell has only had two recruiting classes....first, it is not genuinely accurate, and second, what about the substance regardless of the number of classes ? Did he have to remind himself how bad those classes were, never mind how much worse the present one being put together is ultimately going to be?

It is nothing more than a financial decision and a financial decision only...he simply has an ego (unwarranted one nonetheless) and refuses to state the factual truth of the matter.

What about this quote by Hazell?

"That's what you need when you're trying to flip a program. There's lots of things that have to be done. We live in a society when you want instant gratification in everything we do. But you have a plan, work the plan and stick to the plan and don't waver. Sooner or later, that thing is going to flip when you things well consistently over and over and over again."

Well, he sure flipped the program...from one that was not very good, to one that is absolutely horrible. Nobody is seeking instant gratification here either...it is three years now with virtually no gratification, never mind no "instant" gratification. Finally, what if the plan sucks and is failing (as is the case despite his being so clueless as to recognize it or so arrogant as to deny it)? Further with that point...what is it that he (or they, for that matter) have done well consistently over and over and over again?

I think the guy has done an absolutely horrible job in every facet of his job, but it is getting to the point that I no longer even like him as a person, as I am tired of being patronized and of his complete lack of any accountability and total denial of reality.

You stupid internet people don't get it. We are young ....oh but wait the most experienced unit on the team is the OL and they suck. Why with lousy recruiting and zero improvement is the youth going to be better in a year. Not buying what Burke is selling. Hope to hear from him at the end of the session after IU blows us out. Burke is loser.

On the plus side, which is really hard to find at this point with respect to Purdue football, at least we know that Morgan is leaving and there is a date tied to it...it is later than what he deserves and it will only set Purdue football back even more and make the next HC's job all that more difficult, but at least we know that his time is going to come to an end, and when it does, despite that it too should have ended sooner, Hazell's time will end as well.

Burke: "When the variability gets less, the team that played Nebraska will be the one that you'll see each and every Saturday."

This is what the program is aspiring to achieve?
Total yards: Neb - 484, PU - 457
Yds/play: Neb - 6.3, PU - 5.7
Neb: 7-12 on 3rd down
Neb: 29 4th qtr points

I'll gladly take wins anyway they come, but don't hold up that Nebraska victory as the type of performance that will lead to long term success in the W-L column.

Our only chance and this is one in a million, the President or Board get rid of M organ after 2-10. Will be tough to hire an AD and get a coach in place in a month, but that is the pipe dream. Of course the BoT does not care, nor does the President.

I really hope, at this point, that all the recruits we have verbals with, would decommit and go somewhere else. It'd be a clear sign that not only do the fans not want to have Hazell, but players don't want to be coach by him either.

I'm voting with my wallet and my feet. I've been a lifelong boilermaker, but this is it!
I won't waste another Saturday on this abomination.

I know what you mean. You think the attendance is low this season, just wait till next season. Nobody is going to go to the games. This whole program is a freaking joke.

Boy is he condescending. The thing is, I struggle to remember a time when he was right and the masses were wrong. In my mind he has earned no credibility. I guess the Painter hire is OK. We have the one Big Ten title, one BT Tourney title, and some Sweet 16s. Even Painter had to pants him to get paid.

The "North Korean Radio" reference is outstanding. Sir, you have earned an A+ this evening!

More quotes from Burke: "A lot of the Joe Sixpack type fans think the program is in bad shape, just because of the multiple 30 point losses at home to mediocre teams, but they really don't even know the half of it. The fact is we will probably be even worse next year, because quite frankly, Darrell has done a piss poor job of recruiting. However, it is possible to coach up these lightly recruited players so they can compete. We haven't done that. I went to Mitch and said, 'this guy really is bad, I don't know what I was thinking, can we fire him so I can hire someone else?' Mitch said, 'Hell no, you've mangled this program bad enough already, we don't need you blowing another $12 million of the University's money.'

"So that puts us where we are today, pretending that things are turning around, that better days are ahead, even though recruits are exiting faster than contestants on an episode of Americas Got Talent. But luckily I'm a master communicator, so hopefully the fans will buy it."

Swimmer AD conveniently failed to mention that Nebraska turned the ball over 5, that's right, 5 times. We simply need to schedule more teams that will agree to do this.

I just don't want to have to wait till Burke retires to turn this thing around. I was really hoping they would bring in a decent coach next season and he could do some positive things on his own.

Problem with that hope is that it would require Burke having to magically and miraculously bring in a decent coach next season, and that is simply not happening. As much as I hate it, ultimately, I would prefer Hazell to stay as I don't want Burke to have any say in his replacement...it has been stated on here and other forums already, but the very first step and action necessary to have any hope at all at fixing the debacle that is Purdue football is to replace Morgan Burke as the AD.

I know people will get their panties in a wad, but he doesn't really deserve much credit for the Painter hire.

Maybe we can force teams to start walk-on QBs with no experience against us.

Yep. Supposedly he wanted Lavin, who didnt want to do the coach in waiting bit. So he and Keady agreed on painter.

Indeed, nor should it be forgotten that Burke wanted Davie and Mason after Colletto.

The Hope/Hazell disaster is Burke's legacy as Purdue University athletic director. I'm not sure if Burke is clueless and/or gullible for buying Hazell's argument (i.e. the Nebraska win was over a squad led by Tom Osborne, Tommie Frazier, and Mike Rozier), or arrogant beyond belief in that he knows that even if the stands next season are completely empty he gets paid a king's ransom.

Burke has metaphorically burned Ross-Ade Stadium to the ground. The next AD will rightfully claim the mantra of One Brick Higher. Unfortunately for that person, it's going to take a whole lot of bricks, and only after the work of laying a new foundation is done.

It is pure arrogance, but he is clueless as well on top of it.

When you looked at tenure, M organ is the longest tenured AD in the Big Ten and I want to say it was longest by like 10 years. Is that a good thing? I am not joking, when M organ took the job in 1993, there was no Internet, cell phones were not common, email, social media, football teams were allowed 100 scholarships, no Big Ten Network, it was an honor to be on television... World is a changing! Can't you get stale in a job for 22 years? I would say cap any AD job at 10 years.

This situation reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George tries everything he can to get the Yankees to fire him and they never do.

Your right, how much worst could Hazell have done over the last three years? Lost to ISU is about it. But he'll get to that level by next year.

Ha! That's true! It also reminds me of the immortal Darryl Rogers quote when, in the middle of another disastrous season as head coach of the Detroit Lions, he said "What's a guy gotta do to get fired around here?"

And if we saw the Nebraska team with their real QB, Purdue would have lost to them too.

I wasn't that upset by Burke's comments. Once he decided to retain Haze, it's clearly in his best interest to support his head coach. I doubt Burke really believes his talk, but it's better than saying, "yeah, this guy is a total chump, and we're going to dump him as soon as we can afford it."

It's Hazel's comments that floored me: "A lot of people have been supportive. That's what you need when you're trying to flip a program. There's lots of things that have to be done. We live in a society when you want instant gratification in everything we do. But you have a plan, you work the plan and stick to the plan and you don't waver."

Holy [expletive]!

Haze is "trying to flip a program"? Give me a [expletive] break! You inherited a mediocre program and ran it into the [expletive] ground! The only [expletive] flipping you're doing involves the [expletive] coaching cliches rolodex!

Society wants instant gratification? B.S.! That's just blaming someone else for your problems. You've been on the job nearly three [expletive] years! There's not one [expletive] aspect of this program that's better now than when you got here! Forget instant [expletive] gratification! Forget any [expletive] gratification! You can't even sustain the most modest [expletive] incremental progress!

"Stick to the plan and you don't waiver." REALLY? I mean [expletive] really? You're 6-and-[expletive]-26, for [expletive] sake! Do you even have an [expletive] plan? If you do, chuck it out the [expletive] window because it's not [expletive] working!

Having a plan is great, but success in any [expletive] endeavor requires the flexibility to adapt to your [expletive] circumstances.

Ok, I've never said anything like that on an internet forum, and I probably won't again.

Go Purdue! Beat Northwestern!

Yeah this is so monumentally bad you have to think they are throwing the games because they have $$ on them! Haz just wants to get fired so he and the Mrs. can take the buyout $$ and go back to where he comes from so they can drink 40's on the porch.

Most BTN team measure progress by wins and losses.Burke measures progress trying hard.
