I'm guessing the Boilers will try to attack Ball and Riggins...talented but true freshmen...if Blough gets time....the IU defense is improving....
As an IU fan, I am concerned. We have a talented team and a good DC. However, Wilson/Johns playcalling sucks. Good schemes but they always out think themselves. Not a disciplined team. They commit penalties in the wrong situations and they turn the ball over a lot. Special teams isn't very special. Hardly any plays made. This is a team that should be 9-3 that will be lucky to be 6-6. Wilson hired a good staff but I believe he micromanages them and it's creates issues. 6-7 wins will always be the ceiling for this guy. Tom Crean is a far superior coach to Kevin Wilson.
I watched the IU-PS game yesterday. Your OL going offside on the one-yd-line was a killer and might have made the difference in the game. It was a much closer game than the final score indicated.
I played on a HS team (Tipton, IN) that never had an offensive offside in four years. Every play went on "one". QB didn't even call a number in the huddle. Then about the middle of the second qtr and again in the fourth qtr, the play count would be changed to "two" for one play. We'd catch the defense offside E V E R Y time.
If I had to guess....a competitive first half, and then Indiana opens it up in the 3rd quarter....pulls away in the 4th quarter winning by at least two scores.
IU is very beatable. They'll fold when the game gets tight and Wilson goes brain dead with dumb coaching moves when it matters most. Boilers can win this one. Hoosiers aren't that good.Hoosiers need to beat us to go bowling. Can we put up a fight in B Town? Doubtful
As an IU fan, I obviously don't have a lovefest for Wilson, but IU has a major talent advantage over Purdue. Purdue has poor coaching as well.
They have an advantage but it's not that big. And Wilson as coach negates that. He'll never build a winner there, and they'll still be happy that they don't get pounded by the big boys.

Yes,Purdue has poor coaching,but how can anyone expect much from Parker at this point in his career?I think the only way Purdue can win the Bucket this year is if IU plays as poorly as they did against Rutgers for most of that game.
It may depend a bit in how beat up each team comes in after their match ups next week. Let's face it: they both play physical opponents leading up to the Bucket. If IU plays defense like they have for most of the season, I like their chances.
Wilson has done a nice job...he has raised the talent level significantly...he has dominated Purdue in recent years (on and off of the field), he has been competitive with the big boys fairly consistently, he has produced NFL players, he can recruit, and his offense is fun to watch...the talent advantage that they have over Purdue is significant, and while he certainly does have his moments with respect to his coaching, bottom line, this Purdue team would struggle to compete with the better HS programs in the state, and IU should have its way with Purdue.
Love the Water Line break comment. We'll hang with them for a half, then jailbreak in 2nd half as we have seen. No one coach or player will be enough to make difference in another 24-31 point difference in this game. One thing of note, Tibesar is coaching the Outside LB's for Wisconsin.

Yes, Justin Wilcox is both Defensive Coordinator and ILB.
How did he get his team into the top 5 then? Very likely to win his 3rd Big Ten Championship in 5 seasons. He's fine.
I've never respected Wilson because of his "rumored" off-field antics and his lack of ability to coach. For you to say that Crean is a far superior coach means that based on Crean's record of falling on his face, Wilson might be suited for the local Boy's and Girl's Club.
Rumored? He was asked to leave most of the bars and restaurants in Bloomington because he couldn't behave himself. IU fans don't care about that. They're more,worried about their bush league kiddie playground and tailgating.

Well, here is the deal...everyone in Btown knows that Wilson was spending way too much time in the bars. But then, if I were coaching in that train wreck I'd drink like a fish too. As for Saban....it's the Somewhere Everyone Cheats conference and if you think he doesn't "push the rules", you've been asleep for a long time. As for Stevens, love the guy....totally class act. And if you're sick of the rivalry....go root for Yale and Harvard.
Actually, as usual, you are a liar. Wilson is not a bar hopper. And IU has been far from a train wreck since Fred Glass took over. Keep trying man. Something might stick eventually. I'm actually an IU insider. My family boosts a lot of money to IU. Don't pretend that you know more then I do. You don't. And never will.
Unless Indiana gets careless with the football, I just don't see it. Having Replogle back helps, but Purdue is still very short-handed depth wise.

The goal of this Purdue team is simple. To be the first team in Purdue history to win the fewest games, to have a losing record, finish rock bottom last, not be ranked, not have an out of conference winning season, not go to a bowl, and not beat IU a single time, not even come close. It's what propels that result that says all it needs to about this team, it's character, purpose, and state. It's not about just about being bad it's about being a loser and achieving that goal. That's what this game is all about. By beating IU you can be a bad team and salvage a crumb of memory and pride. That at least makes the 4 years count for something. Purdue losing this game binds this current group of seniors and juniors as being the worst team in school history, probably big ten history, and big 5 history going back over a century. By losing to IU this Purdue team can be a certified idiot loser forever remembered by the students, fans, and alumni as a punk. Losing this game if you are Purdue binds you to that forever. That's their legacy, that's what they'll be remembered for in permanent embarrassment for eternity when it comes to all things football. Playing with no purpose is the same as existing with no purpose. It's what they chose to be. At any point they could of tried and put effort real effort out there with pride and respect. After this game they will earn their legacy as the biggest losers in big ten history and maybe forever at that. Your last memory like in life as in football will be what binds you eternally. That's what's really on the line and they'll live that out the rest of their lives.
