Asked a couple times about the Tennessee position Purdue’s first-year boss wouldn’t elaborate on the situation. He stuck to his own script on both answers, first asked about the job opening in general, then specifically whether he’d talked to Tennessee.

“Well, like I said, I'd rather not comment on any of the rumors and speculation, because that's what it was,” he said.

Not quite the, "I am staying at Purdue no matter what," answer I would like to see. Can't say I blame him. I realize he isn't going to be here 10+ years at this point, but would love to have him here for 3 years. Given the money just thrown to Jimbo at A&M the SEC is in an arms race that I am not sure Purdue will ever be able to compete in.

Picture yourself in his shoes. Purfue has decent facilities, but certainly not the best in the conference. Plans are in place to make improvements but they are far from finished. Which answer gives you more leverage to get things done you want done? I am not going anywhere or I am happy right now? As long as they think there is a possibility someone can steal him the board and the AD are going to work overtime on projects to keep him happy.

The potential for upward mobility in the B1G West is the main thing that makes me think Purdue might be able to keep Brohm for a few more seasons. The gap between Purdue and, say, Northwestern isn't that great. If Brohm can mold this program into one that regularly produced 8 or 9 win seasons (and I don't think it's that unrealistic to think they can do that), then he'll have very attractive options.

I think Brohm knows he's in a good situation at Purdue. He doesn't have to take the first offer that comes his way.

Not compete because the admin refuses to, or because they can’t? I believe it is the former (and that is not necessarily a bad thing) but the insane money the B1G TV deal alone brings in says we can compete with most “big time” programs. To date the admin has refused to play that game (where does it stop?) but we shall see how “committed” the University is to the revenue sports in the coming years. Brohm’s market value will force their hand.

We've made a lot of investments in FB and BB over the past 3-5 years. Bobinski seems to get it and I trust him to make the tough decisions when it comes to both dollars....and SENSE.

There are some investments that are very worth making. The new practice facility is jaw dropping and puts us on par with just about everybody in the country. I think the indoor facility needs some work and obviously Ross-Ade is in need of a major overhaul in the south end zone....but those are coming. We don't have ALL the money in the world but we have made timely investments in the areas that matter the most as far as immediate success. We can then play catch up with the stadium and other superficial things once the Practice and player facility is paid off.

I am excited about what the future holds and confident that Purdue can/will/should be at least a 6 win team in football moving forward....even if Brohm isn't the coach!

They were rumors. True or not, its not worth opening that can of worms at this point. He has a recruiting class and bowl game to worry about.
Yes. Which is exactly what I stated Wednesday when people were losing their minds. He is making it clear that the rumors were just rumors and has been focused only on recruiting and coaching his team.

He isn't going to give that, and I wouldn't either. I know we're in agreement, and we'd all love to see him squash them like a cockroach. That's just not realistic.

I read an article quoting another school's AD. (Can't remember which one, with all the coaching rumors swirling.) That AD made a fabulous point. In essence, he said, you better have an idea how far you're going to go to keep the one you have.

I'm confident Bobinski has done that, and has had preliminary conversations with Brohm.
