Brohm on Louisville radio this morning-

Gotta give up to Drew Deener, the radio personality. He was PISSED the last two days. He was classy, respectful, and completely reasonable. The callers after Brohm hung up were saying they were now mad because they couldn’t be mad at Brohm anymore. Happy that we keep coach but hate that it was so hard on them. Makes you appreciate Brohm’s integrity and loyalty that much more.

I don’t think we should allow much negative talk about Brohm from here on. He’s made it clear that he’s all in on us and we need to be all in on him.

When do season tickets go on sale?

He did, it was very emotional. Went in to saying the things we all deal with with in life (he's a normal guy), wanting his parents to see his kids playing sports, etc....also went over there were some things behind closed doors regarding heated conversations. I imagine Oscar was pressing hard, can't blame Grandpa wanting his family to come home.

Found it interesting that he stated that Sindelar might have 2 more years to play. I'm guessing Sindelar would be up for a medical hardship waiver after already having redshirted?

If you didn't listen you missed out...Brohm became emotional when asked if it was hard to tell his dad. All the people poo pooing the emotional piece of this don't understand what he is sacrificing and how his parents pulled for him to leave.
Well at least his mother was.

That was a great interview. Damn I’m glad he‘s our coach. To hear him talk about the events around that decision and how choked up he got when talking about his father and the Grandkids, etc., you know this was a difficult decision. But Brohm is a stand up guy and a man of his word. And one heck of a great FB coach.

Fantastic interview. I have always thought Brohm would only be here 4-5 years. If Purdue starts winning like I think we are capable I think we could have him longer than that.

I read the transcript of the interview. The only thing that had me somewhat scratching my head is Brohm kept referencing doing what is best for him (Louisville) vs. doing the right thing and honoring commitments and finishing what he started (Purdue).

Maybe I'm reading into this, but does he not think Purdue is what is best for him? (talking JUST him personally). Obviously maybe I'm biased, but I would think coming back here is what is best for him both personally and the community as well. But the way he framed it made it seem like he wanted to go to Louisville, but was in some way felt obligated to stay at Purdue.

Really good interview. A man of integrity which is sadly rare. Sounds like he and his wife and kids have really taken a shine to Purdue and the West Lafayette community. Like he has said before, people don't realize how good it is here.
The guy asked him about if he felt the same obligation to players and folks at WKU and why he left there and stayed at Purdue. Brohm had stated that they accomplished a lot in 3 years and didn't know what else could be done. Plus it was time to move up. He feels there's more to be done here. Obviously Purdue and the B1G is a step up. Louisville not so much. Only reason he entertained it was because it was home.
Another thing that stood out was Brohm saying recruits and some current players said if he went to Louisville that they wanted to go too. That would be a huge blow to us.
Also, he talked about heated discussions about whether to take job. I wonder if one or both of his brothers wanted him to take Louisville job.

I think you're reading too much into it. Remember, he was on a Louisville station speaking to a Louisville audience. He was trying to mend a huge hole in the fence and was obviously still very emotional about the whole ordeal. I'm not going to pick over his every choice of words. My takeaway was simply that it was a very emotional decision because he knew he was going to hurt people no matter what he decided. If you have not listened to the interview, I would highly recommend it. He sounded very different than his normal, confident, in control self. You could just hear the emotional exhaustion in his voice.

I"d suggest listening to the last 4 minutes of the interview. Really think as a family, sounds like his family and father wanted him to go.

What a fantastic interview that really put it all into perspective. I will not forget it anytime soon or what he gave up to stay at Purdue. If that doesn’t want to make players play for you I don’t know what will.
Also gives even more appreciation for the current Purdue administration. The impression I got is this could have easily gone the other way if not for A+ handling of the situation and a smooth relationship throughout his first two years. So many factors at play and so many things had to line up for Purdue to pull the upset.

The UL boards, if you believe any part of that shit show, mentioned Mom made it clear a few weeks ago that she expected them home, and Dad worked on him pretty hard Tuesday evening.

Could be. Although this could work out better for them to have the opportunity if the next UofL coach flames out.

I think it’s more likely Oscar and his wife, Jeff’s parents.

Yeah, he did get choked up talking about his dad. I was just going off the heated part. He said his wife and kids liked both places and didn't want to decide between the two. Either way, glad to have him and his integrity. Boiler Up

this.

I think the Brohm family is living life and loving it in West Lafayette.

But, they also spend a fair amount of time with the Grandparents, and know it would be good in L'ville.

Sounds like he made the right decision for the right reasons.

Drew Deener had him on-talking through the process. The guy cares about Louisville, and wanted to speak through the process and his respect for Louisville.
Jeff is a different breed, how many coaches do that. In the end he knew one side would be hurt, and it was the hardest decision of his life.

I didn’t see this and posted a link to it...sorry. But everyone needs to take the time to listen. Especially when he’s asked about telling his Dad he was staying at Purdue...

I would read "best for me" as in "my hopes and dreams." Can you blame him? What kid hasn't dreamed about hitting the last second shot or throwing the last second touchdown for their team? Resurrecting the UL program and cementing the Brohm legacy has got to be part of his deepest desires. However, like the incredible man he is, his commitments come before his dreams. I totally respect it.

When it comes time where he can leave and it wont destroy our program, I hope he can go back to Louisville and win them a Natty.

Great interview. Especially touching when he talked about getting the extra 2M bump. Purdue definitely has a special place in his wallet - er, I mean heart. A special place in his heart.

Hey this knucklehead finally showed back up.
Good luck with your coaching search!

You need to let go, man. Holding onto all of this bitterness is only going to make you miserable.

Lol isn't your terrible program on option 50 at this point. Nobody wants to be there.

Good luck with the Maryland OC

It seems to me that the only Brohm's not in West Lafayette are his parents. Why don't we give Oscar a job on the staff too and move his parents to West Lafayette? They could use Jeff's house to go visit friends in Louisville.
