Brian Kelly to LSU?

apparently a final team meeting...
lasting 10 minutes

Of course it was fast, Kelly is a busy dude as he needed to hurry up and get his Twitter account updated.

I am laughing my ass off at all of this. It just shows how far ND has fallen when LSU can walk in and poach your coach that easily. Even a POS one like Kelly. Also find it funny LSU would go after a guy who couldn't win it all with ND.

I'm not. LSU is probably wondering how he got ND into the playoffs at all on such a limited payroll.

10 years and $95 million. I think that’s close to triple his ND salary.

ND is on the verge of a possible playoff spot and this clown leaves??? What a Dbag move that is! No way he should be talking with anyone until the season is over. I dislike ND and their fan base, but I’ve disliked Kelly even more! Now I feel that feeling is quite justified.
He pulled the same crap when he left Cincy after an undefeated season and #3 ranking. Walked out on them before the Sugar Bowl. Classless!

Except for a brief window under Ditka the Bears just continue to be the Cubs of the NFL.
Lovey had the defense going there for a few years, but darn they could not get anything right on offense during that time. Terrible OC hires as well as bad QB play doomed them.

From what I've seen is their organization lacks a comprehensive vision and strategy. Always chasing the Packers and trying to 'win now' with flawed rosters. Often mortgaging their future, trading draft capital, chasing QB's (on a franchise that has never produced elite QB play) and big splash free agents . Meanwhile their 53-man roster has gone downhill the past 10 years. Result is mired in mediocrity. They need to bite the bullet, load up on draft picks, and enter a multi year rebuilt like the Cubs and Sox. IMO every move they make screams short-term job security. This is why the coaches changes haven't really made much difference.

Where's NDFartly to provide his brilliant insight?
Maybe he IS Brian Kelly?!?

Again, no need to invite him to even respond...impossible to be less insightful (or, more arrogant...now that I think about it, he may indeed be Brian Kelly).

Common denominator(s)...lousy ownership...only concern is making as much money as possible (with very poor understanding as how to achieve it aside of just being cheap).

ND's 2022 schedule includes at Ohio State, at UNC, against BYU in Vegas, home against Clemson, and at USC (now coached by Riley). ND's 2023 schedule also has Clemson, OSU, USC.

I wonder if the Riley move boosting USC finally convinced Kelly it was now or never. He obviously doesn't think his team can compete against the big boys else he wouldn't be leaving on the verge of a possible CFP appearance.

Won't make it past year 5. And Kelly isn't worth that kind of money to me. I'm sure ND could've easily matched that, but they probably thought the same thing. Now if they couldn't match it, again it says how far ND has fallen.
Agree, I told my ND buddies 3-4 years. He went 16-10 first 2 years and if he doesn't move the needle in year 3...gone. I mean coach O was 2 years removed from a NC and 1 of those was a COVID year and the next was a brutal mess of injuries. So, he essentially had 1 year to prove himself after a NC....no way I'm taking this job but it couldn't happen to a better guy and fan base (besides that team down south).😉

I’m surprised any of the players showed up for a 7 am meeting to hear that your coach is bailing a few days before possibly making the playoff.
  • The committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:
    • Conference championships won,
    • Strength of schedule,
    • Head‐to‐head competition,
    • Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and,
    • Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.
