What is the significance of winning a bowl game? And which win is more important, a regular season game or bowl game?
Obviously winning the bowl game is better than losing it, and it does count toward your overall record. But outside of the CFP, bowl games seem to have lost some importance. Is it possible they have slipped below the importance of a regular season game and into quasi-exhibition status? Players are skipping the games due to injury concerns, and many fan bases consider their bowl assignment to be a disappointment. But a bowl game has a national audience, and you can end your season with a postseason championship (of sorts).
Assume you end up 7-6 either way, would you trade a loss against Mizzou for a win against Auburn? Answer is not so obvious as some might think.
