Kyle Holderfield: Virginia Tech 31, Purdue 28

Purdue's defense continues to struggle, particularly in the secondary, where Va Tech's two standout wide receivers stand out. The offense finds their run game a week after the poor week one performance, but it is not enough with the late touchdown given up to give the Hokies the lead and win.

Casey Bartley: Purdue 42, Virginia Tech 28

The defensive backs are going to be an issue but now it’s on tape. Purdue wants to be aggressive on defense, but I think it’ll be clear to the coaches that one safety looks is death with these corners early in the season. Look for Purdue to try to take away the deep game and solidify tackling and use their front speed to get a negative play or two. The offense will take a big step forward in week two. Walters returns the hype with a road win.

Travis Miller: Purdue 28, Virginia Tech 17

I am feeling a defensive bounceback this week. I don't think Virginia Tech is as good as Fresno State offensively and I think what we saw against the Bulldogs was the worst we will see all season. One thing that will help is an offense that can generate more yards on the ground and stay on the field more. I think Devin Mockobee has a bounce back game with over 100 yards and two scores and that, in turn, gives some more rest to the defense.

Jace Jellison: Purdue 31, Virginia Tech 20

Last week was a disappointment for this team. A new era, a new feel in the building and they weren’t able to get the job done. After hearing what the coaches and players had to say during practice, it was easy to see that the Boilermakers are going to come into this game amped up. Some of the same issues will likely remain, but I think Purdue uses the week one loss as motivation to go into Blacksburg and get the first win of the Ryan Walters era. Expect Devin Mockobee to have a big game, along with the defense to have somewhat of a bounce back performance. Boilers surprise some people and win this one handily.

Kory Sheets:

"If we get Mockobee rolling early, I feel like getting the running game, especially me being a running back, getting that established can open up everything... run/pass off of that and you already know I'm rolling with the away team."

Boiler Upload Subscriber Predictions:

Last week, Boiler Upload's subscriber base was all in on the Boilermakers to get a victory, but the votes were much more even heading into game two. 31% have Purdue winning by seven or more, while the same number have Virginia Tech winning by seven or more. 26% have the Boilermakers winning by six or less and 10% have Virginia Tech winning by six or less.
