Blake Wesley listed Purdue in his final 6. No bluebloods to compete with in this group.

It would be awful nice to get Blake Wesley onboard as the 3rd player for the 2021 class. If he chooses Purdue, this should make his class one of the best in program history. He's supposedly the 3rd best player in the state. Does anybody else have any insight about this kid?

Multiple IU sites provided stories about Blake Wesley not including IU in his final 6 and bemoaning his decision. I haven't seen that much chatter from Purdue media about this. It seems like we'd be declaring this a victory for the program in any other year. He's the 3rd best player in the state (top 100 nationally) and a non-forward, which seems like the perfect fit for the 2021 class.

Have we gotten spoiled, or is this kid just not that good?

We are also at 13 scholarships for next season as it stands. Taking another guy this class will help balance the roster age-wise, but would require someone to leave

Believe this has been discussed but Painter has said with the new transfer rules he would over sign. I have to believe there will be at least 1 person who leaves this year.

I was not aware that this had been passed yet? Has it?

A formal vote by NCAA membership could take place as early as January at the NCAA's national convention, sources said. If adopted, the rule could take effect for the 2021-22 academic year. That would mean a football player could transfer after the 2020 season and immediately play at his new school next fall.

So, therefore we don't have any scholarships available, and until that passes I don't think Painter will over sign. I think it's best to keep in touch in case that does change in January.

This article from a few months ago described Painter's shift and his willingness to oversign now.

From the article...

"I think signing over is going to be a real thing, instead of every now and then where you hear this school did it or that school did it, because we can do it in our league one time a year," Painter said. "We've done it a couple of times in 15 years.

"I think it's going to be a regular thing, and people are going to have a tough time wrapping their head around it right away, but when you see all the trading of baseball cards this spring it's going to be ridiculous."

He was talking future tense, in the scenario where that rule change is made. it has not been made as of yet.

Correct so he is being smart and signaling to any future recruit that he will take them even if he doesn’t technically have a spot.
Or maybe that he can continue recruiting him to see if the rule changes in two months. If he isnt planning on commiting yet theres no harm in continuing to recruit him.

One thing that I noticed is that not too long after Nojel transferred a handful of some of the more active posters on this forum mysteriously disappeared
I don't know what you're hinting at, but if Treed was using multiple accounts it would have been noticeable cuz punctation and speeling where not vere good when she wuz tryna make a point about her sonz ability to score and kreat shot around the rim whrer never allowed to play his game and he knowz whut he should be working on and that futhermore u cudn't tell where a sentence ends and the next one begins becyase of not having any punctuashion

My comment had nothing to do with Treed using multiple accounts.

I heard quite awhile ago that Indiana was no longer involved and that there is some oddness to his recruitment and those around him. However, I've also heard from multiple people that believe he is the best player in the state by a decent margin, and that he'll be a star long term. Not sure what the issues are that have turned some teams off.....but seems like he may be worth the hassle if he's that good. I guess we'll find out in a couple years.

Blake committed to ND today.
Good for him and good for Notre Dame. Seems like Brey runs a clean program, would like for them to continue to do well enough for him to stay there as long as he likes. I don’t know Notre Dame’s roster well but I’d guess that they’re in a better spot to provide him with what his camp is looking for than Purdue is. Best wishes to the young man.
