I also think it may take a little bit of steam off the Cal stuff, its hard saying. I finally have a good gut feeling this time though.

And he does have a gf Bailey Gillham... Check out this pic at least hes got a sense of humor...He also asked her to prom on video

If he can get us to a final 4 he can throw on a kilt

I'm also starting to wonder if Biggie's decision will make AJH want to come back more than leave as well. Biggie can sure get the ball inside and that would really help to show off AJH's skills even more since teams can no longer just triple team him.

And on top of that should Biggie come our way, I think also with what we have already on the roster, we don't necessarily need a PG. As many on here have suggested, we just need someone that can bring the ball up and I think Edwards, Mathias and Davis can all do that. They would need to work on it some in the offseason, but they have the skills.

Just pull the trigger Biggie and Boiler up! Your skills will be on display here!

I still do not think it's likely that he comes here. But if he did, I don't know how much time Cline would even get. You'd have Hammons, Swanigan, Davis, Edwards and 1 other guard between PJ/Stephens/Mathias.

Even without Swanigan coming here, we have a lot of depth on the team.

I also think he's picking Purdue. If he does, it'll be Maryland/Purdue 1a/1b. Probably give the edge to Maryland but not by a lot. MSU, Wiscy, UM and IU the next tier. If IU somehow gets Maker, I'd put IU up there as 1c. The B1G could be crazy next year.

Still need a PG transfer to be a real threat to win the title.

I'm not sold that we do. If we land Swanigan then let Davis/Mathias bring the ball up. Or even Edwards for that matter.. I think the basketball IQ is there for any one of those 3 to run the offense. Mathias would be my lean as that kid can pass.

If Davis can tighten his handle, then yes. However, I think the general concern is if our PG can guard the opposing team's PG - especially a jitterbug type. I don't think Mathias or Edwards would be the guys for that.

True as they probably aren't fast enough. Davis might be able to or maybe do more trapping in the back court to slow those types of PGs down. We shall see!

If we get Caleb and AJH returns we will have a lot of skill on the floor. It might be best to take the earliest shot available instead of probing and probing until you get the best shot as Purdue does. There would be good reason to machinist on the skill by getting up as many shots as possible.

in regards to Mathias, I'm hoping he turns into our version of Bronson Koenig.

I would be highly surprised if Mathias becomes our version of Koenig. Koenig is a true PG, and Mathias seems to be a SG. Granted, he has the bball IQ to be a PG, I don't think he has the quickness that Koenig does, but you never know!

Let me say this if we get Swanigan it's because we get a pg and hammons is staying. Which would mean everything is in place and people in the know already know this. Wouldn't shock me if this nova guard is visiting Illinois on the way to purdue and Swanigan commit to take place. Again alll subjective but I never make predictions.

Do we have the open scholarships in 2015-16 to take on 2 more (Swanigan + PG) in addition to Cline and Weatherford?

For some reason, I thought we just had 1 more available... where's the scholarship chart?

Yes we have 2 open scholarship spots.

2012: Davis, Hammons (2)
2013: Stephens, Smotherman (2)
2014: Thompson, Mathias, Edwards, Taylor, Haas (5)
2015: Weatherford, Cline (2)

That's 11, plus room for two more.

We picked up another scholarship from the Bryson Scott transfer.
