Big Ten Tournament Seeding

If they go to Minneapolis they definitely won't win a game.

Painter???

As expected, Maryland takes down Northwestern (74-61) in College Park, and the Terps clinch at least the #3 seed. Michigan is the #2 seed IF they beat Michigan State, otherwise, the #3.

Top-4 finish for Purdue, but BTT seeding is now either #5 or #6, depending upon USC/UCLA result. Get ready for basketball next TH.

Watching this IU game. I almost feel bad for how badly this game is being officatied. Surprisingly, my buddy agrees (this isn't the norm) and he's an IU fan.

It's just a brutal game period.

another rock fight.....shocker.

Both teams shoot < 40%; Indiana 5/20 from beyond the arc but won the battle of the boards and FT edge. Four Buckeye starters played 34+ minutes.....that didn't help them either.

Oregon/Indiana (8/9) game could be interesting - second game between the two teams in 9 days.

Hopefully Indiana shows up. Only real bright spot on the year and what I will be happy seeing is Anthony Leal finally getting recognition to end his career. Should be All-B1G Defensive team without any doubt.

So Purdue has the 4 seed then, and a probable game against Wisconsin?

#6 seed. UCLA, Wisconsin, and Purdue end up in a 3-way tie for 4th, and Purdue loses on the tie-breakers.

Boilers get the winner of the 14/11 game, which for now is Minnesota/Rutgers. Ironically, they play at Rutgers tomorrow to end the regular season.

More ironically, they could still play in the 14-11 game as well. If Nebraska and Rutgers win tomorrow, that's what happens.

Minnesota and Nebraska win.....11 Minnesota vs 14 Northwestern
Minnesota and Iowa win.......11 Minnesota vs 14 USC
Rutgers and Nebraska win.....11 Rutgers vs 14 Minnesota
Rutgers and Iowa win....11 Rutgers vs 14 USC

Caveat: I didn't flip the other remaining games to see if the tiebreaker changes based on who the #2 seed ends up being.

Edit to the Caveat: Michigan beating MSU doesn't change it.

Yeah - there could be some craziness still left. I think if Iowa wins there's a 5-way tie for 12th at 7-13, and Nebraska would be the odd team out. Most of the scenarios I've seen has the round-robin record breaking all of the ties.

Purdue ends up 5-5 against the top half of the league (W - Michigan, Maryland, UCLA, Indiana, Oregon; L - Michigan State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana)

8-2 against the bottom half (W - Minnesota, Rutgers (2), USC, Iowa, Nebraska, Northwestern, and Washington; L - Ohio State and Penn State)

Roller coaster ride is not over yet.

Minnesota's been something of a Boiler killer in the B1G Tournament.

Just had to go there, rgarlitz, huh? :)

Most recently, 2019 and 2010......I have tried to block that 2010 game out of my memory, one of the more discombobulated and inept offensive performances I've seen from a Purdue team (which was understandable under the circumstances). Purdue trailed at the half 37-11, and if not for a Ja Juan Johnson basket with two seconds left, the Boilers would have been in single digits.

Seems like they beat Purdue and couple times back in the late Keady era, too. The details of those early B1G tournaments are getting fuzzier each year. I remember Purdue beat Indiana and got to the finals the first year before losing to Michigan. But Gene went something like 1-7 after that.

2004 was another loss to Minnesota.

Yeah, after that first tournament in '98 (which later Michigan had to vacate the title), Keady never got past the QF round and only won one game in the remaining seasons he coached. Ironically, that was in 2001 against Minnesota. Painter has done a much better job, getting Purdue to five championship games and winning it twice.

So as of today we play winner of Minnesota/Northwestern Thursday and then Maryland to get to semis on Friday.
After today, it will probably be the Minnesota/ Rutgers winner, then Michigan on Friday. Maryland would potentially be next.
