"They show a lot of pro stuff; from the outside, it's a high-volume playbook, and they still haven't really recruited to fit everything Brohm wants to do."
"They've got a top-25 recruiting class at Purdue. That's a massive change for them, that's unheard of."
See, that's the point. Brohm has yet to have the team that he WANTS - Purdue is still at least a year or two away, if not three or four.
Due to Hazel's recruiting years (ranked 70th or so), every other team in the Big Ten had more talent the last two years, yet Purdue/Brohm still won. Imagine what he will do when he regularly gets 25th ranked classes (and better) in here.
It's ludicrous/hilarious when other team's fans jealously claim "Brohm's only won 13 games in two years!", without realizing the dearth of talent with he's had to work. Purdue played the FOURTH toughest schedule in the nation last year, yet still went 6-6 (with a majority of Hazell's players). They also beat THREE Top 25 teams.
Hazell's classes were around 70th or so, and IU's were around 50th, yet Brohm/Purdue still had IU down 31-10 two years ago, and down 14 points much of the second half last year. Imagine what will happen when Brohm gets his much higher ranked classes in here. Assuming IU keeps their high-school coach, of course.
I don't expect much improvement in Purdue's record this year, due to Purdue's youth and tough schedule, but I do expect a lot in the coming years.
