Better AD. Burke or Bobinski?

Bobo is better and it’s not even close.

Bullshit.

Morgan Burke hired and sustained the winningest coaches in the histories of Purdue’s five major sports while building and rebuilding each and every Purdue sports facility, also getting two Pete Dye redesigns thrown in for a buck apiece.

He’s the best athletics director in Purdue’s history by a wide margin, and if you can’t see that, your hindsight is firmly up your ass.

There is more to being an AD than winning football games. Did Burke ever have a complete season of sold out football games? Or Olympic athletes? Or have a final 4 basketball team? Or a baseball team in the college World Series? Or have as many facilty renovations? Or help negotiate the BIG10 network contract and payout?

There is soooooooo much more to being an AD than just winning football games.

I thought you people were more intelligent than your posts reflect. Do you even know the responsibilities of an AD?

Or are you just a drunk, angry mob after another loss? You knew before the game Purdue had no chance of winning didn’t you? You knew before the game Purdue was going to get blown out didn’t you? So why are you so mad? The bricks are still red. Bruno’s has reopened! Life is good!

The people actually paid to know football predicted Purdue to finish last in the Big10 this year. Maybe in the future you will start believing the people who are objective and paid to know what they are talking about rather than your homer friends who post on this board!

I still root for Purdue. But I’m also intelligent and realistic. They suk this year. I knew that before the season started. I thought they had a chance of winning 4-6 games. They came close in two losses. That would have been 3 wins with msu and IU left on the schedule. That was a pretty close prediction.

Yet I know nothing.

“Yet I know nothing“

Got one thing correct…

I think that it's hard to judge them as I'm sure that they worked under different administrations with different goals and had to implement those goals with varying resources. True insiders could make an informed judgement.

Is this even a question, ADs judged by their best decision.

Morgan Burke hired Matt Painter to be the head coach of the Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team.

BoBo has …. Um well, hold on I’m thinking…sold the naming rights at Ross Ade to the Rohrman group for an underwhelming sum in order to build an underwhelming addition to the South endzone that will be empty next year. He also hired, and then repeatedly got played by, Jeff Brohm a .500 coach who won a couple of exciting bowl games and got destroyed in humiliating fashion in several others

Burke did a lot to revitalize Purdue athletics and modernize facilities in the late 90s/early 2000s. On the other hand, his tenure became stagnant toward the end. He wiffed on Haze and probably held onto Sharon Versyp too long.

Bobinski made an initial splash by hiring Brohm, but Walters is looking like a collasal mistake. The Katie Gearlds experiment is still on very shaky ground, too.

One thing I will say about Burke is he always took time to communicate with fans at events, games, and answers all emails promptly regardless if you were a casual fan or a major booster. He was AD under two tight wads and was key in getting painter here and keeping him. He also hired joe tiller and put a long run of bowl games and dominating indiana.

Maybe he didn’t get to a final four but he got to 3 elite 8s. Also had woman’s basketball women’s golf championship.

He was behind likely our biggest expansion of facilities including two Pete dye golf course designs, expansion of Mackey, major renovations at Ross axe, baseball, softball, the swimming/diving complex, and tennis facility.

He also championed the John Purdue club which has been huge financial backer of all sports including many endowed scholarships.

Imagine if he had the financial resources we have now.
