Beat the Irish!!!!

If we can impose our will in the post we should win. It will be a test for our defense. They have some guys that can score in Farrell, Beachem, Vastoria, and Colson. Not very deep beyond that. Main concern is being able to defend the dribble without giving up great shots because of help.

Can we beat a ranked team and break the Crossroads Classic Curse???

Big game

Need some street cred

YUGE game!

Reverse the Curse.....beat the Irish? Hell yes!

Those going.....enjoy the game, and Boiler Up!

and limiting the TO's.....this game could easily go down to the last couple of possessions.

we dont win at this event. the sky is blue and purdue loses at the crossroads. may not even watch.

Resume builder. Confidence builder. They type of game Purdue needs to win to take the program to the next level. Our history isn't great in Indy and in games such as these in general. We are more than good enough to beat ND, it's all between the ears.

need to play a lot better than today's lackluster performance against an awful cleveland state team. haas has to finish his shots. how many bunnies did he miss today? after taking really good shots the last few games, todays selection left a lot to be desired as did the passing game. maybe they were looking ahead?

Agree with a resume builder.
Would definitely help seeding way down the road (unless we just win the big ten, BTT!).

this is our last chance for a non conf top 75 win.
Otherwise we'd have to hope Arizona st or auburn would improve and finish toward the top of their conferences later on.

ASU had a nice win today.

Watching the Catholics versus convicts 30 for 30 last night has re-stoked my hatred of the domers. I always rooted for the hurricanes in those Notre Dame Miami games back in the 80s. Miami got totally screwed on that fumble call in the end zone in the fourth quarter. Typical.

I caught the tail end of their game against Villanova which was played at the same time as our game against Cleveland St

They look really good and almost pulled the upset on the road. We need to make them pay down low with Biggie and Haas as they can't match up with us size wise. Their leading scorer and main big (Colson) is 6'5" but moves very well laterally and is very strong. Biggie needs to get deep post position on him and score over him, which I think he can. Colson is not a great 3 pt shooter but can make them and I think they will try to do so as our bigs cannot defend a guy like him if he is hitting from the outside.

They play smaller (like a 4 guard lineup), but a Beacham, one of their 'guards' at 6'8" and can shoot it (tho he had an off game against Nova). Even tho they are smaller they find creative ways to get good shots going to the rim with strong cuts. I think we need to be extra disciplined in our man-to-man.

I think we need to play good defense on their wings and rebound. ND will need a good shooting game to beat us IMO, but they are capable. It should be a good game but I think we pull it out. ND coming off a loss isn't ideal tho.

I feel like the crossroads is our "curse of the goat". It'll be pretty much a "home" game for the Irish with all the reversibles there, but time to break the curse!

What is ironic is it feels like this "curse" has been going on since the 80s.

Better yet...my brother and I were in on the sales of the t-shirts...we would meet those guys at ND, pick up a box of shirts and then sell them at our and other local High Schools.

I could see the Golden Dome at a distance from my house...and could not have hated ND more...was a HUGE Miami fan back then and loved the "rivalry"...I remember when Miami came to Purdue actually...they were absolutely loaded.

At one time, I hated ND so much, I owned a t-shirt from every regular opponent on their schedule...I can vividly recall wearing a Colorado sweatshirt to a ND basketball game at the ACC right after Colorado had beat them.

I have some great stories having lived there my whole life and having friends whose parents coached or worked at ND...I can remember going over to the Alvarez's house one night to do a project as a Freshman at Purdue where I had to interview Coach Alvarez, and it was actually right before they were to play Miami in Miami...I pulled up to the house and had to wait to pull in as a car was in the drive and it was Lou Holtz dropping Coach Alvarez off after practice...Coach Holtz waved as he backed out of the drive and drove past me...Barry invited me in and poured himself a scotch on the rocks and then sat with me for at least two hours.

Do not have a good feeling about this game.. We are due for a cold shooting night, and what could be more appropriate timing than this cursed event.

Side note: Mike Brey is a terrific coach. Talk about finding players to run your system. I thought they were going to take a step back this year, but he has this college basketball thing figured out. It's a shame his program is so lightly regarded among ND fans. We probably would have named a street after him after 2 straight Elite 8's and a conference championship.

Exactly! Limit turnovers and this Purdue team will be tough for anyone to beat.
Exactly. It's the one thing that concerns me with the ND game. We can't give them extra possessions. Keep the TO's in the 10 or less range and I really like our chances.

I don't think routing against Purdue is the same thing as cheering for ND. I've been to event every year since it started. Every year there are IU fans rooting against Purdue, just as there are Purdue fans rooting against IU. There's no difference, except that IU fans easily make up 60% of the crowd, Notre Dame brings 15-20 people, and Purdue and Butler split the rest of the seats

this!

Painter haters please note that Mike Brey didn't do very well in the NCAA tournament until his 15th year at Notre Dame. In his first 14 years he made nine NCAA tournaments and only got to the Sweet Sixteen once (where they lost). Also note that he has still yet to achieve the Holy Grail that is the Final Four.

That said, he appears poised for a third excellent season in a row with each season of these last 2 seasons appearing to have less talent than the season before it.

We have our work cut out for us. We need to exploit our advantage on the interior to have a chance. They really struggled rebounding against Villanova and that needs to hold true against us. If we can get Colson into foul trouble they have almost no post presence offensively. He can create problems for us because I don't think Haas or Swanigan can guard him effectively and trying to do so might lead them into foul trouble.

The main difference is that the Purdue fans that root against IU have good dental hygiene. You would never honestly say that about the IU fans that root against Purdue.

We have to avoid scoring droughts. ND can flat out score. Their D is weak so hopefully we can exploit that. On a side note, their culture is weird. I live close to the campus and can get tickets to ANY game. I rarely go unless they're playing someone fun, but the lack of enthusiasm for a very good bball team is really odd - especially when they have a coach that actively tries to get people to the games is a pretty good guy to talk to.

I live nearby also. These people don't deserve a good basketball program.

Same here. Two years ago they were hosting Michigan State in the Big Ten - ACC Challenge and I got tickets for WAY under face value on the day of the game. Aside from Duke or UNC, it is never terribly difficult to get tickets.

Answers your point to a degree also.
it is partly why Brey doesn't have quite the pressure that other schools/coaches have from fans/admin, even PU

They're so football centric, many do not care.
The women's program probably even has more of a following the last two decades

would like to see how much success Brey would have at other schools - acc like wake or NC st, or big east bball only Xavier, Marquette etc

There was never a curse with Cubs, if there was it was their fans. Wrigley was full even when they were the worst team in MLB. Why spend the extra millions of dollars when your stadium was already full.
CMP's teams don't do well in these games. That's the reality, but if this teams don't beat themselves, they should win this one.
