First time poster, long time reader...but who misses him now? If we got him, good chance we don't get VE, and no one would make that trade today....

For years, Painter has been saying he tries to recruit "Purdue guys" who are willing to put defense first, protect and share the basketball, and most of all work hard and be good teammates. He had some swings and misses (e.g. RJ, who is doing well in Houston BTW), but now I think he has a roster full of Purdue guys, and Vince is a great example of one. Would not trade him for KBD or anybody else.

They both still have a lot of games ahead of them before their college careers are over so a lot can change from now until then. Bates-Diop is a good player that's improving but after a season-and-change, I think Vince is the more well-rounded player of the two.

I do remember how a lot of us were hoping for a KBD commitment. It seemed like he was a priority before VE but things have worked out for the best. CMP and Purdue had very good fortune with the chain of events that led to getting commitments from Edwards and Haas. The 2014 class seems to be turning out even better than some of us expected.

Good thoughts, Nage. I also like that Vince Edwards and Dakota Mathias provide CMP with connections to continue recruiting Ohio prospects in addition to the fact that they are really good "fits" for the program in a number of ways. Granted, there are a lot of great Indiana prospects in the next couple of classes (particularly 2017), but I've always thought it really helps if Purdue can keep having some success in the two bordering States of Ohio and Illinois (as well as getting a few from other places like with I Haas and C Edwards).......With the State of Michigan, it appears to be really difficult to land top high school players away from Michigan and Michigan State.

Back to the OP's main point, I think KBD will still be a pretty good one by the time he leaves Ohio State. He should get a lot of opportunities this year, but the Buckeyes are struggling so far this year.
