Oh well. We weren't going undefeated anyway. Let's win another 11+ in a row.

This is part of the problem - bad time to play our worst game? Well, there were certainly things we were capable of doing better. But there's also no coincidence that our competition was also the best of the season. Butler's a good team and came to play. Their inside play reminded me a little of last year at MSU when a back-up center played against us and just disrupted our inside play and it just rattled us.

We could have played today's game against some teams ranked 15-25 and maybe won, but Butler is very similar to Purdue in its blue-collar work ethic. Butler played harder than us.

We were outhustled for the first 38 minutes, no excuse for that.

played harder, quicker, more physical on the boards and they were just more focused and alert. Give Butler credit. Can't recall Purdue playing well for whatever reason exists between semesters. That one is out of the way...Purdue gets focused and beats Vandy...

Butler is pretty good but I would take a rematch any day and expect us to win. Officials allowed them to push our bigs around in the post early and our bigs backed down. If they learn from this lesson it will be well worth it.

Aside from an outstanding defensive performance by Davis on Dunham and an OK offensive performance by Swanigan I don't feel like a bunch of players performed. Some of that is due to Butler but much of it has to do with us too. Beat Vandy and then focus on the Big Ten.

I agree that I think Purdue could definitely beat them in a rematch. Our turnovers going into the game were not good, but just having our "bad" average of turnovers today would have resulted in a win most likely.

The turnovers HAVE to be a focus of this team. You can't deflect away from them - this wasn't the first time this season.

I agree, turnovers were the difference in the game tonight, not hustle. The team was playing hard, just didn't get a lot of the long rebounds.

You made a great point.Did anyone really think Purdue was going undefeated? What bothers me about this team is the silly turnovers and occasional lack of hustle.

I mean no offense, but Butler has beaten Purdue five times in a row and that game was rarely in doubt. I don't think another game, if it ever occurred, would bother them all that much.

It doesn't have to bother them for them to lose. Frankly, the reason Purdue probably lost today was because they didn't go into this game being bothered by the prospect of Butler. Butler came ready to play and we didn't.

Congrats on the win. Hope you continue to do well and hope to see you in the NCAA tournament.

5 times in a row... with 3 different head coaches over that stretch. Ugh.

What would a Good offensive performance look like? Swanigan was very good tonight, and would have been great if he could have helped a bit more early on in the 2nd half.

I actually think it's four different coaches, Lickliter, Stevens, Miller and Holtmann.

Butler played better and deserved to win. Purdue bigs were getting absolutely raped and got no help from the refs, if that game is officiated as it should be Purdue wins by 15. Credit to Butler that the came in planning to play physical and make the refs call it and sticking with it when they didn't. I doubt we'll see games called like that come tourney time, but don't be surprised to see other teams try to take the same approach in the meantime.

Purdue wasn't ready to play and looked like a deer in the headlights for most of the game. I do agree that muggings were occurring in the paint. Too much slapping going on uncalled. I'm sure it altered the play of the bigs but it was what is was and isn't the reason we lost. I believe we need to feed the post to win but about 1/2 way through the second half NO attempts were made to even get an outside shot. We have to take and hit those to keep yesterday from happening again.

I was there, clear up in the rafters; thank God for the video board.
I thought we came out with good intensity, especially Edwards and Swanigan. But as the game wore on there seemed to be a lot of slapping and hacking that was allowed only on one end of the floor. I saw our turnovers but I also heard the momentum killing whistles, especially the 2nd half. They may have outhustled us several times but we were kept from sustaining a significant rally due to errors both called and uncalled. Frustrating.
Btw, it was my first Crossroads. Some fans I talked to prior to Saturday said they would not be going to anymore of them. I didn't understand exactly. Having experienced it I see what they meant. Even the PA guy must have been wearing a red sweater.

Moving past all that it's time to Btfu and beat Vandy. It's time for another winning streak.

Yeah, better make sure the refs get the memo that they need to protect every sloppy entry pass from the perimeter. Maybe the Purdue guards could try driving to the bucket once in awhile and creating openings that way. Butler was just on top of stuff, immediately.
