They were #4. Will they fall behind Purdue? Also, OK and WVU play each other on Saturday. One must lose. Could Purdue get up to #8? If Purdue wins vs Nebraska, i think this is very possible.

Purdue could possibly get there for sure especially beating Nebraska tomorrow but let’s not go crazy over being top whatever. Yes it has its perks most games being televised on national TV and the media talking about you all well deserved I might add. I guess for me I have never been caught up in ranking at all. I’m old school whoever steps on the court game on no matter who you were what team you played for I balled out. Purdue to me is just balling out playing as a unit with a purpose with 1 goal in mind winning big 10 again and winning a national championship. Great they getting the recognition they deserve bcuz they have earned it but I can bet money they not paying attention to the rankings they all are locked in on each game and opponent they play no matter the ranking or non ranking of the team they just ballin. Whatever seed purdue gets in Ncaa Tournament they all no it doesn’t matter ur seed 1,2,3,4 or 11,13 you gotta be ready to ball point blank. Last season final 4 had 1 number 1 seed in it so goes to show you seeds are what they are but means nothing once game is played. I feel with are a final 4 team I said this back in the summer nothing has changed we have a complete team that has size experience length and shooters galore a recipe for a serious tournament run. They are playing for each other as 1 unit and not paying attention to all the ranking they just letting their game speak for itself by just BALLIN

Based on their tremendous drop a this week from 3 to 4 on the heels of their blowout loss at Arizona, hard to imagine them falling behind Purdue...heck, they may remain in the top 5.

I agree DG that the west coast hopeful voters will try to keep ASU as high as possible. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Arizona make a bigger jump next week than Purdue to efforts to begin to get them in position to the the West #1 seed by season’s end.

this is what I see and believe. that voters in the West will rally around one or two teams to keep their rating inflated. We've seen t with Arizona for years, and lately for Gonzaga. I'm not saying either team is a bad team. But they both seem to get a lot of their higher votes from Western voters.

I support an electoral realignment ....

ASU plays Utah at Utah this Sunday. Utah lost to Arizona at Utah last evening but it was a competitive game. I saw it on tv.. Perhaps Utah pulls out a win. If that is the case, ASU will have lost 3 games in a row. That would almost certainly push them behind Purdue in the rankings.

UCLA lost on the road to Stanford so that is a team unlikely to pick up support. If it is anyone, it would have to be Arizona, but then it can be pointed out that Purdue beat them decisively in the Bahamas tournament on a neutral floor.

Arizona has talent. But they looked sloppy last night. Hard to watch, especially with Bill Walton calling it "the conference of champions" every 5 minutes.

i cannot stand listening to that blowhard. He is literally a complete moron. I would rather listen to Vitale than Walton... just typing this makes me cringe.

Goodness, can we maybe start 1 thread where everyone call all poll watch in one place? There are 5 threads a day started about this or that team losing so we can move up a spot!

I know it's exciting, but Purdue just needs to keep winning as much as it can. I certainly don't want to be the "overrated" team that falls hard as soon as they are challenged. Purdue still has some proving to do - and it will have to consistently through this season because most of our games are "bad" opportunities - not good ones (i.e. we're expected to win, and it's bad if we lose).

If we win the games we need to, we'll be ranked in the top 10-15 at the end of the season - period. No need to watch every single team around us and hope they lose so we can move up. Let's earn it.

personally I believe we have 'earned it' already. We have more top50/top100 wins via KenPom/RPI than everyone ahead of us. Our 'profile' is better than/equal to everyone above us. I am of the opinion that we have been underrated this entire season... mainly due to our stumble in Atlantis.

I for one am quietly enjoying watching all the teams above us fall when they finally start playing quality competition, while Purdue just keeps humming along and taking our rightful place higher up the polls.

Boiler Up!

Funny -- when I saw the atrocious bowl record posted by the Pac-12 this year, the first thing I thought of was Walton always saying "conference of champions" during his broadcasts.

STOP .. just stop ... you are using reason and logic when predicting what voters for the polls will do ...

we've seen the same thing for years in the Heisman voting. The entire West votes as a block for their best candidate regardless of who's the best.
All you had to do was read the western media's lock-step view of the Big Ten before the bowl games to know this is true.

Now, hold on..........are you saying this sh*t is biased?

Yes, we have a very good overall schedule. But they keyword is overall. We've played a lot of "good" teams - we've only played 2 teams currently ranked (both behind us, and we went 1-1). You look at the Louisville game at home - that was a very tough game for us. Louisville isn't bad, but they aren't thaaat great. We've certainly improved since then, but that's what I'm referring to - would we be able to now take on one of these top 10 teams and pull out a win? Unfortunately, our schedule doesn't give much of an opportunity.

I'm not dissing our schedule by any means, I am just a bit hesitant because we haven't played more than at maximum 1 real legit/elite level team (and AZ was not a bad team when we played them, and I'll certainly take it on our resume - but they let's be real they weren't a top 10 team when we played them).

However, all of that out the window....

I think Purdue's biggest thing right now is consistency. We've had some consistency issues - think of WKU or NW at home where we were very lucky to win. If this team can get consistent - and knock on wood its been playing that way, although not against great competition - it absolutely is a top 10 team. When Purdue's on, they are going to be incredibly hard to beat. However, I think we have some "proving" to do rebounding, shooting consistently, turnovers have popped up here and there, etc.
