Even though March Madness is still very much in swing, more than 600 players (including even Michigan's Justin Pippen, whose team is still active in the NCAA men's basketball tournament) entered the portal on the first day of the window.

Many more players will continue to enter the portal over the coming few days, but there were a few significant players to enter the portal early. That includes Xavier's Dailyn Swain, Indiana's Mackenzie Mgbako, and Iowa's Owen Freeman.

Three former five-star recruits (including Mgbako as well as Arizona State's Joson Sanon and Miami's Jalil Bethea) entered the portal on the first day. We will continue to update this post as more notable players continue to make their intentions clear over the coming weeks and months.

I am sure a lot of these lists are based on offensive ability. But who matches your guys best, and who wants to D it up, and do everything to win a championship.....prob missing from the list. Just hope CMP finds a starter quality guy.....we have the bench guys already.

I just want two guys, one big and one guy who can score off the dribble who can both give us 20 a game. Those would be the missing pieces IMO for a team that I think would be preseason top 3.

I'd like 3. A big, a wing who can score, rebound and play D and another really good ball handler who can give Braden a break.

Ill be surprised if painter doesnt go after koch from iowa unless hes already off the table. I agree on another ball handler as well. Probably be an older kid from a mid major whos had decent success that wont cost much.

If everybody comes back and gets better do we even need to add anybody in the portal?
If everyone comes back then we cant add anyone but west. Its unlikely someone or some people wont go. If we lose someone beside furst then lets hope its not a key guy and we add people who help next years ceiling. We will have a very good team. I doubt we have much money if the key guys come back but a player or two who can contribute, development of the guys coming back, and getting the freshman/redshirt guys in can push the ceiling.

Purdue should make a play for #5 Shooting guard T. DeVries. How funny would that be?

From that list, I want Nick Davidson (Nevada) --- There are others not yet on the list. I know little about the Centers. I shall research

Yes we can. Scholarships go from 13 to 15, so if we get everyone back, plus west, we have 2 open spots to get to 15.

We add two new scholarships, one frosh, and lose one player so we will have a minimum of two slots open for transfers. We will have enough money for additions. Painter has already said he's going to the portal so I don't know why folks are still fighting the idea.

I don't understand why anyone would be against going to the portal. If you can upgrade your current roster talent, isn't that the goal?

Everybody isn’t coming back either, not sure why people have such a hard time with this, hopefully, the guys Purdue loses are limited, my guess is 2-3 leave.

Matt has always looked for productive players, but wanting them and getting them are two different things. Purdue "should" be attractive for someone that wants to "join" the existing team, but for someone that wants to be the guy...Purdue is the wrong place

Cox and Harris will be a year older and I'd bet ready to contribute even more. Don't see a need for a ball handler. 4 and or 5.
A 3 that can get his own shot maybe.

I don’t think we should pass on Dix from Iowa. He’s a big guard and could play small ball 4. We also need a solid 4/5.

I mentioned Dix a few weeks ago, when the rumor of the Hawkeye group exodus chirped a few weeks ago. He’s definitely a streaky scorer/shooter. Not sure of his offensive consistency or his defensive game. He’d probably cost too much as well.

I see Latham Somerville from Rutgers entered the portal. Says he is a freshman . He could sure help with rebounding.
