Reading is a great concept: I just read up and looked at the Tyrone Tracy Jr news and clip and that is the X factor player Purdue is looking for. Back to normal program station.Where are the RB's? I suspect with Horvath graduating and Cross hitting the portal that Purdue is primed for a portal transfer. Sure, Sampson James will get opportunities, but to have a true RB that can catch like Jackson Anthrop has to be a template Purdue is chasing. Any hints out there?
Jackson has mostly been WR with some RB work as of the back half of the season. 48 Rec, 496 yards, and 5 TD's is nothing to scoff at when you have a QB who can put the ball on the money like A. O'Connell can. Flip the script to RB who can do WR work and you have a great game changer.
Formal offer are asking?Does Horvath have an offer to come back?
I am on board with your overall point, but, if I am taking a guy...I feel better about a guy that was a stud coming out and subsequently got lost in the shuffle because he just went somewhere that had studs already and brought more in after.Honestly would you rather have a low impact (so far) Upper P5 transfer or a low level D1 or even D2 stud (someone looking to jump up)? A mix of both is probably the answer but I kind of like the guys that are going up
I don't think those facts necessarily mean much. Remember how many have or will transfer from Indinia that opens up many roster spots. Who knows if these guys are any good just because of where they came from.Hard to imagine Indinia landed a guy from Auburn and another from UNC this week already...and Purdue is picking up guys that did not even play Div 1 football.

No kidding. He needs the o line to actually give him a hole so he can run. We haven't really seeen that. Horvath got yards because he is a beast and creates it for himself.Doerue doesn’t suck
Didn’t say he did. Purdue needs a RB who can create the miss with swivel hips and jukes and can get yards by creating their own open field.Doerue doesn’t suck
No he does not. He has some speed. He may not be a home run threat, but he has shown he can get to the outside. He just needs better blocking. Hopefully that will evolve.Doerue doesn’t suck
I hope not, w/ psu having Clifford back they lost their 4 star backup,It'll be interesting to see what decision Alaimo makes based on this announcement. Although I love seeing O'Connell come back, we could see Alaimo transfer...
We aren’t PSU.. meaning that backup, while also a four star, probably had more offers to play earlier for higher profile programs than Alaimo did, but who knowsI hope not, w/ psu having Clifford back they lost their 4 star backup,
Also, what year is that backup? If he's a year older than Alaimo it's a different story. We aren’t PSU.. meaning that backup, while also a four star, probably had more offers to play earlier for higher profile programs than Alaimo did, but who knows
they may not be a lock, but w/ Clifford back and always physical D, I would never underestimate themI don’t think penn state is going to be any sort of lock to beat us
Roberson was '19 commit for themAlso, what year is that backup? If he's a year older than Alaimo it's a different story.
Yes, I ran into his grandparents checking in at the hotel I was staying after the Purdue IU game. There was an invite to come back but he was talking to a couple agents. Nothing definite though.Does Horvath have an offer to come back?
That would be huge .. he’s a nice playerYes, I ran into his grandparents checking in at the hotel I was staying after the Purdue IU game. There was an invite to come back but he was talking to a couple agents. Nothing definite though.

Too bad. But I wish him well.Horvath is gone, headed to Hula Bowl
The dude really gave his all.. I appreciate his contributionsHorvath is gone, headed to Hula Bowl
@SDBoiler1 called this one.. he’s been money all yearHorvath is gone, headed to Hula Bowl

I'm assuming that means he's not playing in the Music City Bowl?Horvath is gone, headed to Hula Bowl
That's my question too. The Hula Bowl is on 1/15. Seems like it is set up for guys to play in a bowl game if they want.I'm assuming that means he's not playing in the Music City Bowl?
Not correct. He will play in the Hula Bowl after our bowl game. Hula Bowl is a by-invitation game for prospective professional players. He will get to work out with pro coaches/former pro coaches in practice.I'm assuming that means he's not playing in the Music City Bowl?
Thanks. Good deal. I'd hate to see him not be available for Purdue's bowl game...Not correct. He will play in the Hula Bowl after our bowl game. Hula Bowl is a by-invitation game for prospective professional players. He will get to work out with pro coaches/former pro coaches in practice.
He’s a player who gives great effort and uses his head. How do you see the returning backs?I hope he has a good, long professional career.
I like King Doerue and think he will improve more over time. I don’t often see huge burst from him and runs that look like they could be huge gains end up being 5-10 yard gains. He isn’t going to outrun most defenders. He seems to have hands as a pass catcher. All that said, he’s a serviceable BIG RB.He’s a player who gives great effort and uses his head. Think we still need that guy who can squeeze through a tight hole, get to the edge, and outrun guys at the 2nd level.I like King Doerue and think he will improve more over time. I think Sampson James is going to become the featured back next season. He’s got some burst, size, and speed that we’re lacking. He runs hard. Not sure about his hands out of the backfield.
Dylan Downing is a better player than he gets credit for. His run later in the Bucket Game was pretty. He turned the corner quick and outran all defenders along the sideline. He’s good as a pass blocker. He can get you tough yards.
I think Kentrell Marks is going to be a good RB for Purdue. He needs to get stronger but he has a lot of the attributes you look for.

I’m higher on Doerue than you but that’s fine.. I think your appraisal of the position overall is accurate. Doerue to me has the speed.. I think he’s still polishing his read of the situation that’s gonna allow the speed to come out a la his long reception against Michigan state. That catch to me showed his speed.. he just gets tripped up too early in plays sometimesI like King Doerue and think he will improve more over time. how about a RB from the portal like Jeter from FIU?I’m higher on Doerue than you but that’s fine.. I think your appraisal of the position overall is accurate. Doerue to me has the speed.. Isn't he in a similar mold physically as Downing? One cut, hit the hole and push the pile. I am looking for quick and elusive.Sampson James?
Never heard of himhow about a RB from the portal like Jeter from FIU?
He’s taller than Downing and supposedly faster. He’s not a scatback.Isn't he in a similar mold physically as Downing? One cut, hit the hole and push the pile. I am looking for quick and elusive.
I'd like to see a version of Ja'Quez Cross that actually pans out. He’s taller than Downing and supposedly faster. He’s not a scatback.
Is Sampson James eligible to play in the bowl game? He’s taller than Downing and supposedly faster. He’s not a scatback.
Yes As far as I could tell by listening to brohmIs Sampson James eligible to play in the bowl game?
