Anyone who followed in late 90s... Does Vince Edwards remind you of Mike Robinson?

It kind of hit me last night with Vince's play. Both Wing players. Both athletic. Both would show tremendous flashes but were inconsistent. Both hit another level in the tournament where you want the ball in their hands. As a whole career Vince is better, Robinson was the more prized recruit who wasn't great until his Junior year. Seeing Vince play so well brought back memories.

Interesting, now that you say that he kind of does.

A little bit. Robinson was a 5 star player I believe, but agree that Vince has had a better career. Mike was a baller in high school that just didn't translate to the next level. He seemed more muscular but shorter than Vince. I'll take Vince from three all day were Mike was probably better at driving. All that said, yeah they have quite a few similarities.

Similar builds. Good on the drive. Nice o-rebounders. If memory serves Vince is a better 3 point shooter.

Eh, for me it's the other way around - Robinson (on a good day) kinda reminds me of Edwards. Robinson had the accolades coming out of high school, McDonald's AA, 5-star recruit, but Vincent has a more complete game and has easily had a better career to this point.

Robinson did have a really good senior year, jacked up his rebounding considerably but that left one wondering why he hadn't been rebounding like that all along.

I'm open to being corrected but it wasn't until his senior year that he was playing the 4 thus his rebounding increased. Coming out of high school Robinson was considered an elite shooter but his entire career his deep shot was flat and he missed way more than would have been expected. At 6'6" he was an undersized 4 but he really found his niche there as more of a role player as opposed to being the McDAA that was supposed to come in and carry the team. I personally see no comparison between the 2 players and I think Vince's career will far exceed Mike's, even when taking expectations out of the equation.

Vince has a better cast around him. Comparing this squad to the last Elite 8 team, this team is better at most positions outside of maybe PG. That team was maybe a little "nastier" or gritty due to Brian Cardinal. That team also seemed to have a little more depth with the bench, seemed like 9-10 guys would get minutes. Lots of guys with a role to play.

I'm dating myself here but when VE is on he reminds me Jamaal Wilkes from UCLA. Cleans up w/ garbage baskets, some outside shooting, quietly scores 15-18.

When he is gone maybe people will realize how good a player Vince has been. Even when he isn't scoring he is defending, assisting and rebounding. Plus other teams make an effort to take him out of the game like we did Morris yesterday.
