Anyone hear how the new coach and team meeting went yesterday?

Based on what Bobinski has said the guys were practicing hard. He said he was at the practices. he said the practices just weren’t translating to the game suggesting it was a schematic issue.
What else is he going to say. He mentioned in his presser that the staff wasnt gelling and the fact that after the oc was fired the head coach had to call plays as an issue. Especially considering his background. I am no walters apologist but his staff was a problem. I dont know if was that he was too young and inexperienced to hire a competant staff, was screwed by the admin, or some combination but theres no way bobinski isnt at fault in this 10 million dollar mess as well.

Dienhart said a while back that Walters was really afraid of injuries so he really dialed down the intensity of practices way back in camp.
It was obvious the way we were tackling. After the nd game i was convinced we were doing very little live contact stuff.

Well there couldn't have been a lot of nice to say. I'm assuming in an area as to what Prime and Cig said. You weren't any good and it's gonna be my way or the highway. He had UNLV winning. Actually has HC experience and winning experience. I don't know what God awful thoughts came to Purdue to hire Walters but this is a 1000x better hire from the beginning.
Again, i really think bobinski is at fault here. You get a young guy with 0 track record as a hc and even verry little as a dc and expect him to know going in vs learning on the job is going to be a problem. He cant assemble a decent staff due to lack of connections and probably has never even thought about an offensive philosopy or know someone whos actually implemeted it. Anyone watch the unlv ad presser this week. Hes only considering a current hc or a coordinator with hc experience. This is in the mountain west. This was a gamble hire with no support or vision of how it could even work. You can blame the coach for not being ready or the guy that hired him

And if you know the facts you know bobinski wasnt even on the search committee or the group that made the decision. Or that Walters was not his choice.

When Brohm was coach the players were monitored for how hard they practiced. Rondale Moore practiced twice as hard as the next player! Certainly the current team could use plenty more of useful practice, and it might be interesting to see how it compared to the past practice of Rondale. A player should have a commitment to practice and try to improve, and even more so now that they are going to be paid. And actually play for the entire game. It's like work, you show up on time and do your job. I believe that Odom feels the same and will instill these values.
True, but the last coach where you were going to have a rough week if you made an error was tiller. I heard if you made a key mistake, costly penalty or even dropped a pass early in tillers tenure, it was like “nothing personal, but we will see you at 5 am all week.”

That matters.

And your position coach was the one who had to come in and see you!

That and even if the practice was hard, it doesn't mean it leads to improvement. You have to do was is termed "deliberate practice" to get better. I doubt these coaches knew what were proper techniques and how to practice them.
My football coach was deliberately on our ass every practice. 13-1 my Sr. Year......

1000%. This extreme probably doesn’t fly any more for multiple reasons but watching the product on the field for 24 games it’s hard to believe Walters instilled any type of discipline, fear or accountability into his players.

It’s a different era now though. All I really as for are 22 guys giving it their best and playing as a team.

Chris Clopton was my student during Tiller's first season. He mentioned in conversation that the week of practice after the Toledo loss was really brutal. One week later, they beat Notre Dame.

And that leads to being competitive and winning more games than you lose....

If the
No the Buck stopped with the chairman of our board Berghoff who was on the committee that essentially overruled bobinski. That’s how the Buck works man it flows all the way to the top.
If the ad had nothing to do with the hire im not sure why hes even needed.
