(Then) #21 Purdue loses in OT on a neutral court to #9 OSU and drops three spots. Disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. Dropped behind Texas ("won" a Covid forfeit by Kansas), FSU (beat then #33 North Carolina that interestingly moved UP a spot with their loss to then #24), and San Diego St (beat then #95 Nevada).
But the truly strange thing. to me at least, is even with a win over (then) #21 Purdue, OSU still could not bypass the Fighting Toothpastes of idle #8 Colgate. Wondering if they could finally pass Colgate with a win over #3 Michigan today? But Colgate (idle today) plays in the Colonial League finals on Sunday (vs powerhouse #151 Loyola MD). So could a hypothetical win there and an OSU loss in the BTT finals keep the Bright Whites at #8 (or better)?
I don't envy the committee's task this year. There are so many anomalies to consider (or disregard). Watching the subjectivity of selections and seeding will be even more interesting than usual Sunday evening.
