Leal should have at least been assessed a tech on the kick to the nuts on furst and Furst shoulda been given a T too. Multiple occasions Leal grabbed smith and no call. Loose ball be nailed smith and no call.

But what about the First game? Smith owned Leal then or was that another guy?

Leal has the old man game - grab and hit the lower body to throw guys off and hope it doesn’t get called.

Glad he was able to finally get some minutes his 5th year of college. Soon enough no one will remember him.

Unless, of course, he’s selling houses in Bloomington.

I hope we have chaos. I could see Florida being the only SEC team to the F4.

And a lot of the top of the B1G out in second round. I could see Oregon and UCLA advancing to second weekend.

Houston to the title game, but tbh if I have to pick a 1 seed for Purdue to play, it’d be them because they don’t have height…helluva defense, but I think we matchup the best out of the 1 seeds.

To Leal's credit, if he can get away with grabbing and holding without getting called, more power to him. The scuffle with Furst was a different matter.

His defense on Braden was solid but it's not like he did anything special. He played hard and physical and Braden generally didn't react well, he missed a bunch of makeable shots and tried to do too much and turned the ball over.

As someone else stated, it's not as though offenses are game planning around Leal's defense. If he played for a better team he'd likely be on the all-defensive team. The kid from Penn State is just a more disruptive defender and the guys from MSU, OR and UCLA probably got the nod because they had more team success.

Ace Baldwin is a bad defender. He just has steals numbers. If you have watched him play since the Purdue game, he is very lazy.

Nothing more sportsman like than having to sit the bench to begin the year when you're one *ACTUALLY* one of the best defenders in the conference and you have to watch Woodson fumble the season away.

Lots of players sit on the bench of crappy teams that deserve more minutes. Do they all deserve sportsmanship awards?

The Rutgers coach sold his soul for those two players and what was his reward? A similar thing happened in Kansas. Maybe some coaches will open their eyes and take notice!

This may have been one of Izzo’s best coaching jobs. I’m not an Izzo fan, but I respect the history of the game enough to give him props for a job well done.

Braden was in a four game tired funk when IU came to Mackey. It looked like everyone was " locking him up". We were all saying how worn out he seemed to be. As for Leal, who? Best in the nation?? Is this a humor site?

It's snarky and false. Most are reacting to someone insisting Leal not only belongs on all Defensive team, but also Defensive player of the year and that he is one of the best defensive players in the country. It's not even close. The media does not see it, OK you can say so what. But the coaches are wrong too and this internet troll is right? Sure, OK. Go away.

Based on performance this year, who is Purdue’s fourth best player? Where would they rank in the top 100 players in the BT?

I still like this team and think that guys like Myles, Cam, Gicarri and CJ can do some good things in the post season, but there’s a reason this team has two of the top five and probably three of the top 15 players and lost four in a row.

The fourth best would have to be Furst for his board work and defense. Maybe Cox? None other than those two in the running.

I am pretty much 100% certain that IU will not hire Beard or Wade. If I'm wrong--oh well, but I'm pretty darn certain.

Also, contrary to some media talking heads, I do not think IU will hire Brad Brownell.

I do think that McCollum is a real option--when both IU and Drake lose in the tourney if McCollum is not announced within 48 hours then it's not him, but until then he would be my most likely option. I also think there's a chance that if IU is still alive in the tourney but Drake is out, there's a surprise bigger name that will be announced upon IU losing, such as Shaka, Kelsey, Chris Collins, or a coach that will leave the NBA for IU.
