Someone please tell me that being completely ineligible has no chance of happening. That it's just a minor class issue or something.

I think the chanes are pretty low. Purdue athletes have numerous resources to help with grades and studies. I would also be suprised that a high profile athlete like Hammons wasnt having weekly updates to Painter if there was a risk. Also as a senior I think there would have to be a total academic melt dowb be inelgible, like entire semester of Fs, which again I see as unlikely. I wish we could get some concrete info.

We'll know more tomorrow.

Is this just academically ineligible by Purdue's standards? It was my understanding that blue chippers that know they are leaving for the league at schools like Kentucky don't even go to class the second semester because it doesn't matter. Grades aren't even in yet for the first semester and Painter alluded to Hammons cleaning stuff up in between the period of a few days so I doubt it's academic.

While I'm disappointed that AJ would do anything to cause a problem, this isn't a big thing. Painter holds them to a high standard and I like that.

There is nothing wrong with AJs eligibility. Painter may suspend him for a few games for "not taking care of his business." But his eligibility is fine

The fact is that the public has no idea what "taking care of business" means, but it certainly could be an academic issue. If so, it's wishful thinking to say that his eligibility is fine. My concern will build the longer this situation remains unresolved.

In any case, I'm disappointed in the lack of responsibility shown by a senior leader, and I hope he gets his shit together soon.

His eligibility is fine. Painter has said so. Even said he isn't worried about him.

Purdue has very high standards and AJ probably didn't meet some of them in some capacity. Could be academic, could not be.

AJ is fine. No one is worried except fans, because that's kind of our thing.

Worst case, AJ is suspended for 2 or 3 games like he has been before. That's no big deal. It sure sucks, but it's not going to hurt this team much.

Painter said it wasn't worth worrying about people who don't "take care of their business", but he never said he wasn't concerned about the situation. Big difference.

correct. that said it must not be too difficult to address. it is possible he might be ready to go tomorrow, but my money is not...

I'm not sure what you are referencing. GBI had a report where he said differently on the premium board.

If it was something where AJ wasn't available for the whole season, it would have happened already. He is fine. Worst case is we miss him for a few games. Possitive.

I was hoping to hear he was cleared yesterday. Status seems less likely to change now on the weekend. Either way, not worried. Good to deal with something like this now instead of later when there are greater consequences.
