AD announcement coming?

Eric Hyman would be a very solid choice. He has made some excellent hires including Spurrier and Dawn Stanley at USC and Gary Patterson at TCU.

Just wondering...Hyman was born in October 1950, which means he'd be turning 66 this fall. Isn't there some mandatory retirement age requirement that would make it unlikely he'd be able to accept the position?

I heard it was David Boudia. The current Pool Boy has been so successful they want to stay with a sure thing.

Brian Cardinal. He's been groomed for the position.

I find it hard to believe that he's sharp enough to make really good hires and also be demanding and tough enough on coaches' results. I see him as being too much of a buddy-buddy Purdue guy to be tough on coaches and to be unbiased. I don't want to see that. I want to see someone who is more intellectual and demanding (but still personable): someone that's in-tune with today's generation of young people and wants to be innovative.

Maybe A&M and Purdue have agreed to a trade for this upcoming year. They take Morgan and his ability to not cause any waves what so ever to calm the waters and we take Hyman and some cash?

Totally TIC and I hope the waters joke goes over well....

Don't know about anyone else, BUT I WOULD LOVE THIS.

Football expertise and focus for 7-10 years > retire > leave PUR in good hands.

Doubtful this has direct implications on the AD hire, but perhaps it is the next domino to fall in the string of events that could lead Sumlin back home.
Sure seems like the closest to a home run hire we could have.
I'll have to read more about he and sumlin but I always had an impression they did not have a close working relationship there

He's 65- does the mandatory retirement rule not apply to ADs?
In this case, I think it makes sense. If he's the one, he's certainly being hired to get football back on track and isn't expected to be the AD for a long time.

Mitch Danniels is 67, so I doubt the age is much of an issue. Personally, I think that for many people, 65 is too young to retire.

I agree that 65 is too young to retire - in MOST cases.

My understanding is that there is a mandatory 65 retirement age but the board can grant extensions in certain situations. Not sure that would allow hiring someone already past that age though.

ND Grad. Nothing of real substance that he has done at previous stops except maybe the hiring of Pastner as BB coach at GA Tech.

Well everyone asked for a change...now we will have a ND guy running everything.....

Could be interesting....

I don't see anything outstanding at all in the hire. Just another middle of the road, safe pick joker. I expect great things from the baseball program as we go forward.
