Academic Casualties?

Keiwon Jones is a 5th year senior per the roster on Purduesports.com Don't think that's who Brohm was talking about. I had heard that there were as many as four who were potentially in academic jeapordy
Jones has not been at any bowl practices

Third regime change - you mean like Hope, Hazell, and Brohm in the last ten years?

It will be pretty great for us on January 5th when Bell announces his decision

No doubt you'll get Bell and he's really good. But he is only one player.......but then, Rondale was only one player and he did win the bucket game this year. We'll see.

Bell is one guy, but we’re also bringing in Karlaftis, Grant, Faucheux, Wright, Rice, Hunter, Doerue, Graham, Sheffield, Bilodeau...you get the point.

It’s embarrassing a 5th year senior would lose eligibility. What could his last semester of classes possibly looked like?

They were probably core classes, and I am assuming that if you are going to miss hitting what you needed to get that he probably missed big.

Fuel his fire? Nope...he doesn’t understand recruiting. There are a lot of 3* recruits that are in this class that will turn out to be studs. It just works that way, IU guy doesn’t understand the heart of a lion. Lions are wired differently, just give a 3* lion a reason to wake up everyday ready to hunt and see where they are their senior season

Recruiting lions now.....you have some pretty good recruits...no arguing. So does IU, but you, I am sure, can disqualify them.

Objevtivity is a wonderful thing btw.

Purdue's trajectory looks a little better. I'll give ya'll that. But it's certainly not as great as ya'll think.
Honest question :

Why couldn't IU pull away after 8 years of Hope and Hazell? Especially the awful 4 Hazell years?

Eh, they have some ok ones.

Last ten Games the bucket is 5-5. This includes the four year run under the worst coaching decision Purdue has ever made. Next ten years should be a return to form of Purdue Dominating with IU pulling off occasional upsets.

And that’s something IU FB fans seriously lack. Every season IU goes 3-0 against a pud non-con schedule, and then gets chewed up in BIG play. Enjoy 2-7 every year. That’s IU’s standard. 0-4 in bowl games since 1991. Yes 4 bowl games in 27 effing years! IU hasn’t had a winning season since 2007. Brohm had one in his first year as coach at Purdue.

Not really...
So...

Why haven't you guys been able to separate from Purdue after winning 4 straight Bucket games?

If Brohm can surpass IU in year 1 and 2 with Hazell's players, what do you think he'll do with his own guys? And you can't say he'll just leave, because it's clear he won't anytime soon.

Depressing,if you're an IU fan.

I am very high on several IU recruits, and a few of those recruits were Purdue targets. IU absolutely has some good players coming in. Not near as many as Purdue does, but the best players at Purdue over the last few years (except obviously Moore), have all been unrated, 2 Star, low 3 star, and Juco players. IU will have the talent toner to a winning season for sure. Not sure if they get there, but this is one of IUs more talented classes.

I think Robbins is a little overrated, but he will be a good player. James is a 4 star RB, though it will interesting to see if he able to get playin time behind Walker/Scott. I really like Person, Passmore, and Tracy.

Comparing to Purdue, I think GK will have the best impact on the defense. If Purdue lands Bell, I think he will be the best player on the offense, although Wright and King will give him a run for his money. As much as I like Tracy, I think Allen and Beverly are better CB prospects based purely on size/athleticism. Grant and Graham both have really high potential at safety as well. King and James will be an interesting comparison. I think King steps right in, so he may end up with a better overall career. Purdue is 5th in the Big and IU is 10. It doesn’t mean that IU doesn’t have good players, they have some gems. Purdue’s class is really building on depth and top end talent. Obviously, nothing is set in stone, but I am really excited about every player Purdue is bringing in. I can’t wait for signing day!!!!

Appreciate the thoughts...pretty objective with only some Purdue bias. But that, of course, is how it should be.....

Nice analysis. As you pointed out, IU is getting some good recruits.

Slightly OT I saw somewhere that Louisville was down to two committs.
They are down to 3 verbals right now. Part of this is due to the new coach pulling around 3 scholarships recently. I am assuming these recruits might not have worked well in his system.

And I see that those three verbals rank them dead last (14) in the ACC 2019 recruiting class.

I don’t think they will finish dead last when all is said and done, but they will be down toward the bottom since Satterfield is fighting an uphill battle this year being so late in the process obviously.

I do know they are going hard after Weaver trying to get him to decommit from UK. He would be a nice pick up for them, if it happens.

That's the million dollar question...and the only answer I have is IU's lack of any winning football tradition. Four straight wins against Purdue only really mattered to IU and Purdue fans. And (the jerk) Wilson left big parts of the cupboard bare for Allen, mainly at QB, and IU still hasn't rectified that situation.

I appreciate the honest answer. I've never been able to get one from a Hoosier.

Personally, I was really afraid that after the Hazell debacle, that IU would have surged up and would maintain the lead over Purdue for some time. I really was. Then, you fired Wilson who I thought was building something. The Tom Allen hire was OK, but he needed top notch assistants to help him grow into the HC role. But you guys skimped, hired Debord and promoted GAs into position coaches. What's another $1 million for the assistant salary pool when you've got BTN money flowing through your veins?

Why the hell would they have money to spend on assistants when they can't even spend a little to clean stadium seats the morning of their in-state rivalry game?
