So the opening game roster has Issac starting. He's still 7'2", but now down to 270? That's a lot of weight to lose, even for a body as big as his. He didn't seem to have a lot of excess fat last season. Is he really down to 270 now? Wonder if it helped his vertical....

In one of the videos with Jon Bonhotal, Isaac is working on his jumping response time. His vertical is not the problem most times, it's his quick response that has needed work. Another thing that is never mentioned is the amount of contact that Haas has at ALL times. Try jumping with someone's knee up your butt sometime...not the easiest thing to accomplish.

As for his weight, he is back up to around 285 which is a good starting weight for this season. Hopefully the new contact rules will benefit him and his ability to play more minutes. It's true that he has a lot of body to move around, but if anyone watches while he is in the game, the defender is constantly pushing and banging on him during the entire offensive possession. No one else deals with that type of physicality on a game by game basis. Not trying to give excuses, but a rational argument for his often mentioned lack of endurance and vertical/above the rim game.

The addition of Swanigan should benefit both our centers, but especially Isaac because Caleb is a physical player as well. Teams will be forced to choose who they want to focus on and that will leave the other side to get rebounds and easy baskets. Can't wait for this afternoon! Boiler Up!

There was an article in the J&C about a weeks go that talked about Officiating Isaac Haas and how the head of officiating has actually addressed him specifically. Painter's complaining to officials finally paid off. He admitted that Isaac was getting fouled way more than was being called. I can't find the article to reference it but it was good stuff.
