2026 Purdue QB Commit

I am not the one that threw a tantrum and said you were cancelling your season tickets.
No tantrum just preserving my sanity. No tickets this year.
I made a post saying that I think G Harrell will fix the offense this season where you gave your lazy G Harrell sucks post. And Hudson Card is trash post.
I have NEVER said Card is trash. Misused YES! Trash not at all. Card should be allowed to run but those reigns are not loosened often (HARRELL). I do think Harrell sucks and the last three games against bottom feeders do NOT prove that he has help the offense improve. I want Purdue to do well. I miss the days under Tiller when we could compete with anybody.
If you have anything specific about the offense then I would not mind your post. All I have heard from you is this team sucks.
Not true, just today I posted about the 7 straight runs over the LG at the goal line. All seven with the same result.
Here is a question for you, if you can answer with specifics. In the 2023 season has the Purdue offense improved from the 1st three games (Fresno State, Virginia Tech, Syracuse) to the last three games (Minnesota, Northwestern, Indiana). Go rewatch the games if you must. If you still think Harrell’s offense stunk in the last there games of the season, then I do not know what to tell you.
I think that the running game improved against inferior talent. I do not think that the offense showed the kind of growth to compete with anybody above the halfway point in the league.

Regarding Card. I believe your exact words were that Card did not know how to set his feet. To which I replied , try to set your feet against the Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio St front 7 behind our line, you would not be setting your feet either.

You state that the last three teams (Minnesota, Northwestern, Indiana) are bottom feeders. And you state that the team did not improve from the Fresno State, VT, Syracuse game. Let me ask the question this way, if the 2023 team played Fresno State, VT, Syracuse as their last three games of the season, would the result have been different? My answer is yes. The 2023 team would have beaten, Fresno State, VT and Syracuse the last three games of the season, assuming Card was healthy for all three games. VT would be an interesting game because they improved toward the end of the season.

You glossed over my point about the OL injuries. So let me phrase it as a question.
Do you think we did not fully see the G Harrell Air Raid offense because of lack of depth and injuries to our OL. That Card was not able to make the passes needed because he kept getting blind sided by the opposing DT or LB and because our line could not hold? Can you really put this on G Harrell because of the injuries and lack of depth at OL? With the issues we had at line, no scheme or play calling would have made the difference.

My answer is yes, we got to see glimpse of the G Harrell Air Raid offense. We only saw a glimpse because of the OL line issues and not having the right personnel. We addressed those areas and I expect to see G Harrell offense the way it was supposed to be run this 2024 season.

Final point. You talk about the Tiller days. Yeah I remember those days.

If you like Tiller you should be 100% supportive of what CRW and G Harrell is doing.
Why? Because Tiller was innovative, he brought Basketball On Grass to the B1G. He realized if he used the same scheme as other B1G teams he would not be successful.

Other than the 2023 Purdue and Wisconsin, no one in the B1G ran the Air Raid offense. Both Purdue and Wisconsin had struggles last year running their offense because of repetition and personnel. CRW is bringing an innovative defense that no one in the B1G used other than at Illinois.

CRW had the #1 defense with the 2022 Illinois team. But we only got to see a glimpse of what this defense could be in 2023 Purdue team. Dillon Thienemen, KJ, Nic.

If you are a fan of the Purdue team as you say you are, you can afford to hold judgement on the coaches until we see them run their scheme with the personnel they developed and brought in this season.

What you call facts is merely your opinion to justify your position. When you say you are not trolling, you are. You made an unnecessary opinion to downplay Rios’ commitment without any insider information or fact.

You can justify what you said anyway you want, at the end of the day you are being a jerk to Rios, Purdue and its fans.
Well 18 you have graduated from having no facts relating to CRW schemes and play calling ro being a bully of one particular player. That poor Rios kid.
Facts are tricky to navigate even when they are in plain view....

Good points, but this now makes you a Troll and a hater of all things Purdue.
Take your hurtful and unsolicited options somewhere else....... TIC

I am not certain that they did. Are the rushing numbers better? Yes, but that is easily attributed to bad opponents (one of which beat us).

The offensive line was offensive. The air raid was also not raiding and the portion we saw was definitely not unique.

Will it be this year? Unlikely with a completely new WR corps and essentially a new OL. This group will have no more reps than last years group.

Time will tell if the issues have been addressed.

Tiller was competitive starting in game two of his time at Purdue. CRW not so much. Tiller didn't say "We are ready" two weeks before the first game or EVER for that matter. Tiller didn't run the same ineffective play at the goal line seven straight times. Tiller created an offense in the first year that highlighted the skill level of the players. We chop blocked and ran bubble screens for a reason. We ran quick slants for a reason.

Have you given any thought to the possibility that the air raid offense is not a good offense for a college team with high turnover? Hopefully the defense can stop something this year. We will see. I am not certain where the pass rush is going to come from.

This is college football. Purdue won the division the year before CRW came. The cupboard was not that dry when Brohm left. 54 players have transferred since Brohm left. FIFTY FOUR! Do you not see that as a problem? Did Brohm recruit that poorly? The coaching staff made hundreds of rookie mistakes last season. I don't expect those to go away in year two. You can keep your judgement blinders on if you wish but what I see is a sinking ship in a league full of America's Cup contenders. The climb up from the bottom will be nearly impossible with the free movement of players. Purdue, IU and others will simply become the minor league programs for the elite of the conference.

I don’t think our OL will be as different as you say. I think it is much deeper but 4 of the 5 starters are returning in Mbow, Hartwig, Grant, and Moussa. It is rare for any team to have 4 returning starters as most starters are juniors and seniors. We have more depth and guys will shift to positions they are better at like Moussa. Adding DJ Wingfield and Corey Stewart who both could and likely will start plus depth with guys like Sales, Tanoma, Greene, and Bouldin are collectively an upgrade over Nichols, Preciado, Johnson, Kaltenberger, and Farrell. The one guy to hurt was Kaltenberger but understand he would want a chance to be the guy at center and not wait for Hartwig to get hurt to get his shot.

As for tiller he was an offense minded coach and Walters was a DC. It’s hard to have both. Tiller did with spack many of his years. But to compare an offense between tiller (and brohm) and Walters isn’t apples to apples. Maybe Harrell will be Walters’s Spock with improvements all around on paper except maybe WR. I agree running uo the middle 5 times in a row was not ideal…

Also there are a lot of transfers now. OSU lost 26 this year, 21 went to other P5 schools. It’s just a reality. We only had I think 9 that went to other P5 schools but have 18 coming in. Admittedly some of these guys coming in might not have had other major P5 offers but overall I think our depth is better due to the portal, although losing our entire WR corps is concerning. We had really one consistent playmaker at WR last year though so if just two of these newbies step up we are in a better place.

If you look back , you will notice Tiller installed an offense that was totally different than the typical big 10 offense when he first arrived. He caught teams by surprise and with the wrong types of defenses and players to defend against it. After a few years, the better teams like OSU and Michigan had figured out Tiller’s offense and he wasn’t as successful.

Walters has done something similar with his defense. By placing emphasis on his DBs. That is what brought him success at Illinois. It will only be successful until other teams identify the type of offense that can take advantage of it. Some teams already know how to beat it. Rather than passing, just run the ball and run the option. In order for Walters defense to succeed, he must have a front 4 that can contain the run and force the qb to throw

Why post such a negative comment? "Hypothetical roster spot?"

Yeah, guys de-commit often these days, but I don't see the need to say things like that unless you have some kind of insider knowledge about the kid.
I’m gonna throw up in my mouth a little here but.. I agree with pboiler here. Player personnel is now open payoffs aka “NIL.” Scourton got a cash payoff, but watch Thienemann get $445.32 for actual NIL from EA sports.

This makes it much more likely that a player who can play can go ahead and take an offer while trying to work a bigger payday, or something similar that’s closer to home. Before said player gets to Purdue and especially after if he can make any plays.

Will it be rios who goes? Maybe not. But 1 or 2 of he, Davila and the kid from Indy will go; depending on who plays really well OR doesn’t play at all.

The best thing any fan of Purdue can do is refuse to watch any games with the big boys in it, especially in the post season. The people pushing this garbage system are betting that the overall pie won’t shrink.

Last year I spent probably $3k between season tickets, tv packages and game day related expenses. This year not a DIME. I’m gonna get YouTube TV cause everyone wants to watch the bears. So I will watch through that. But no money other than that. I only hope tons of fans at schools like Purdue follow suit.

The f everything Nebraska guy corn nation did a good video on this. The ass holes who are pushing this are betting that there are more pro sports type fans in places like Brooklyn that will pump more dollars into this than there are dads who take their son to every Oregon state game.

WR is better on paper

WR is better on paper
What paper?
Stats we are down
Original stats we are down (don’t forget Deville, ARY, rice were 4 star WRs among others)
Transfer stars we are down (burks was a 4 star transfer, everyone coming in is 3).
What metric on paper says we are better?

Yeah, but what about before the injury?
When was the injury? I think it happened pretty early in the year. Before then, he was pretty good considering first year in a new scheme with no OL.

Why do I care what stars they were coming in? Means nothing.

Then how are they better on paper? When you say that it would mean there’s a quantifiable metric and there is none. I would say on paper we are not better, but there is potential they could be?

Last years WR’s weren’t very good with Burks being the best. Swap him for Edrine is an upgrade. I determine this by knowing Edrine was the #1 WR last year before injury. Returning TE’s and WR’s will improve, so better to a last year. Sheffield and Yaseen weren’t that good, so I’m kind of assuming someone will be better than them. Kam Brown matched their last season production two years ago. Dixon Veal was coming on late and looks to be better than Sheffield imo.

But if you want to do the stars thing, I’m guessing Smith and Morisette would be ranked higher than most.

POTFHBTFU. On paper the incoming WRs (transfers or incoming freshmen) are taller and/ or faster. Harrell has certain type of receiver he is looking for in the parameters.

Your comment about 4* and 3* is misleading. Yes Yaseem was a 4* recruit, but he could not stay healthy throughout the season. Probably ranked 3* when he transferred. Burks came in as a 3* and developed into a 4*.

And guess what, the 2 Georgia WR transfers were 4*s when they were recruited. Because they did not get to play in games at UGA and transferred to Purdue, all of the sudden they are 3*s?

Do we have better receivers now than those who transferred out from Stars rating? The better question is do we now have better receivers who fits into this offense. I think so.

I well remember the Purdue radio commentators from a game last year saying that all our wide receivers had quit playing while the ball was still in play and Hudson Card was desperately looking to pass the ball to someone. No one coming back to help out!

Then there was the year when they were monitoring the players and found out the Rondale Moore practiced twice as hard as the next highest player. Quite a difference in work ethic, and that during a game.

BoilerN. Card had a rib injury at the Illinois game. I suspect when Johnny Newton pancaked him.

Here is Card’s stats up to that point.

1,244 passing yards, 75 rushing yards, 7 TD, 4 INT, average QBR 52.3

With a patchwork offensive line and WRs not getting separation.

He had the 3rd best QB stats in the B1G at that point. Tua was #1, I can not remember who was #2 (McCord??).
