2024 OLd Oaken Bucket Game: MASYTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Make this shitty team sit and watch IU celebrate Purdue’s worst loss in history. Don’t just fire them. Leave them in Bloomington.

Previous worse loss to IU was 21 and first time shut out by them since 1945. And, yet, I still have a nagging feeling that Walters isn’t going anywhere…

Rushing yards tonight...

RB Justice Ellison- 63 yards
RB Ty Son Lawton- 47 yards
RB Kaelon Black- 34 yards
WR Ke'Shawn Williams- 27 yards
WR Myles Price- 22 yards
QB Tayven Jackson- 20
DL James Carpenter- 18 yards
RB- Elijah Green 15 yards
Purdue- 13 yards

Whatever. Worst Purdue team in history and worst defense in FBS.

I believe you saw what happens when you rub a team's nose in the ground for 50+ years with your stupid phrases like POTFH. Indiana showed the exact same sportsmanship to Purdue tonight as Purdue fans have shown IU for decades. they didn't have to score that last TD. they could have easily taken a knee. But given a chance to rub Purdue's face in the ground, they went for it and made it.

I remember what made Joe Paterno a very respected coach. when he had a victory secured, he didn't try to run up the score. whether you were a Paterno or Penn st fan, you respected their team and players for their sportsmanship. You didn't try to humiliate or embarrass your opponent.

I was at the Ohi st / Michigan game today. I was saddened by the actions taken after the game. I'm saddened even more to realize this is becoming the expected norm of our athletes and our society.

I dont have a problem with what iu did today. What are they supposed to do. Backups want to compete and they did kneel on it at the end.

Absolutely. They earned that. Purdue has proven time and again this year that they can’t compete even with the backups and third strings of teams that were blowing them out. My problem is with the Purdue team and coaches letting it be done to them. Need to bring in an experienced head coach who can rebuild this program up from rock bottom.

agreed. My issue is more that our players and coaches didn’t seem to have a problem with it. Game was over at 38 nothing. If they are still passing, start laying people out. Penalties don’t matter at that point the game was over. Show some pride, anger, offense… something, anything. But no, they just let it happen and then happily shook hands after getting 4 unnecessary tds scored on them.

As a football fan I get it, but as a player or coach I expect some fight.

But if you were a 14 yr old boy in the shower Old joe didn't give a damn about you.

I actually just took a flier on Purdue's team total under 2.5.
Of course I should have put my whole bankroll on it! Mental note for those of you that do this, at least on FanDuel, the odds for Indiana to win by shutout were less (+920) than the odds for Purdue to score less than 3 points (+1060).

that was an unfortunate bump in the road for their fans and their "I'll never attend one of their games again" motto. Like I said after all that, a couple of 10 win seasons will make everyone forget about that fiasco because winning is what matters.

I mean how many of those people are even around Penn State anymore?

as opposed to what psu did to the Terps throwing a 15yd TD pass on the last play of the game, Locksley wasn't happy

In case anyone was wondering for additional record updates - someone had inquired during the game about Purdue's fewest yards in a game.

IIRC from staff updates it WAS 71 yards against Woody Hayes' 1970 Ohio State team in Ross-Ade on a cold rainy November, where Purdue (coached by Bob DeMoss) lost 10-7, scoring on a 96-yard kickoff return but giving up a 4th Q FG for the deciding points. 54 yards rushing and 17 yards passing.

UNTIL last night - 67 yards (54 passing and a meager 13 yards rushing).

and now......back to our regular programming.

Great. I was hoping to witness history.
