2 Quarterbacks

Apparently this is a possibility this weekend. Having 2 QBs usually means you have none.
Or a coach who is lost. Browne needs to be the starter the rest of the year going forward. Card won't be here next year, and we aren't going to a bowl game this year. Might as well get Browne the experience. He may or may not be here next year either, though. I think we'll see a lot of players jumping off this sinking ship.

I’m all for also giving the freshman his 4 games for some experience and save the redshirt.

Michigan tried this with Brady and another qb. They switched QBs every quarter regardless if they had the ball or not. It was a dumb idea.

It also created chaos as both QBs would deviate from their game plan when approaching the end of the quarter.

Michigan still won basically because they were Michigan. And the other qb was actually a good qb. But you could see the frustration on their faces when they were pulled in the middle of a drive because the quarter changed.

I would have to say the old saying has been modified successfully by both NFL and Collegiate teams that have a package of plays ready for the #2 QB that seems to work when subbing a running QB for a passing QB or vice versa.

Not trying to throw Hudson Card under the bus, but here are his passing totals against FBS opponents this year:

47-87 (54%) 465 yards 3 td 4 int

And this is from a senior who's in his 5th year of high-major college football.

He'll leave with a B1G record for that great afternoon against Indiana State. But Purdue has absolutely nothing to lose by moving on from him.

If this is his last year of cfb, the honorable thing to do is give Card some more time. He played well last year, and has been a good teammate as far as I know.

If he still has another year, different story.

I disagree, I don’t think he really played well last year. I don’t think he’s come anywhere close to the guy he was billed as coming into the program. His progressions through options is slow and way to often he makes questionable decisions/reads. I think Browne has earned the starting role and should be given the job until he’s no longer offering more production on offense. Not normally a fan of alternating quarterbacks. Walters made the comment during one of the interviews that he didn’t like the idea of a guy losing his starting role dt an injury.

He was honorable mention BTN QB last year.

That's a good insight and that is pretty close to our situation. Another factor is if we're tring to catch up late in the game or run out the clock to preserve a, uh, jeepers, it's been so long I've forgotten. What's that called when we have more points at the end of a game? Oh, a win.

What Card has as a huge issue is the coaching staff calling his plays.
