That was the last time we lost three in a row or more to IU! As much as the Nebraska win soothes some of the sting of bad football (especially for me, since I lived i Nebraska eight years), I can't take losing to IU. I have too many gap-toothed relatives that like to talk smack. Even Burtnett, Akers, and Colletto kept us clear of losing three in a row.

Did you know that 1944-47 was the only time Purdue has lost four in a row to IU? In fact, we have had five occasions of losing three or more in a row to them. Since then, we have had winning streaks of 10, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3, 4, 4, 4, and 5. Previous to 1944, we had winning streaks of 3, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Even Hope was 3-1 against IU and it isn't like Hazell is playing Mallory's Hoosiers either. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes if he loses another, especially if he doesn't take care of business this week.

Well,Purdue hasn't lost to IU yet this year.I guess they would still be a slight favorite over Purdue right now,but the Hoosiers really know how to shoot thierselves in the foot..

Well, under Fred Glass, IU has made major investments in football, while Purdue has steadily fallen behind the entire B1G in every area that matters for recruiting. Meanwhile, it took turning the program into a dumpster fire and alienating 2/3rds of our fan base before our leadership, of Burke, Cordova, then Daniels, and the BOT, was motivated to respond with the new $60M football facility.

Beating IU in football isn't a birthright for Purdue or its fans. We have allowed our football program to be mismanaged into the ground by fools, while we stood by and blamed coaches for not making a silk purse from a sow's ear, and now we're going to have to live with it for a while.

I don't disagree with anything you have said, but these are not new issues. I would say we were in worse shape in the late eighties and IU was better under Mallory and we STILL never lost three in a row. I think it is amazing it hasn't happened in so long with the state of our program the last forty years. Only the oasis of the Tiller years in that desert period.

That's a fair point, Boilerbuck.

I think Purdue is in worse shape now than it was in the late 80s / early 90s under Akers and then Colletto's first few years. That said, Indiana was much better during Mallory's heydays (1987-1993), especially on defense, than the Hoosiers are today. And Purdue never lost three in a row.

Agreed - this program is in much, much worse shape than the 80s/90s - particularly in comparison to the strides other programs have made around us. For heavens sake this staff had won 3 D1 games in 3 seasons. Thank god we don't play UM, OSU, PSU and even Notre Dame annually or it would be even uglier.
Yet because we "hung 55" on a NEB team with a walk on qb that dropped 45 on us despite 5 TOs, we're supposed to be all in and supporting an extension.
Sorry I ain't drinking the Kool aid this time - make a change if they want to see another dollar.
