#1 in BPI..

Nice explanation of BPI there in that article. Fun seeing Purdue referenced so much too, particularly as the best team in the nation.

"Purdue as the top team in the nation after it won its first 11 games, including winning three games against BPI Top 30 opponents by double digits."

Actually 3 teams in the top 28. It would be great too if they factored in that we beat Pitt at Pitt.

After we beat Butler and Vandy that will make 5 teams in top 28.

I hope we have having some battles during scrimmages, because iron sharpens iron. We should have no drop off during games, because we go at least 2 deep at every position. I would like to see some twin tower action 2-5 minutes each half. This gives us a change of pace to bang it inside and will really open up the 3's.

...Seems like just a couple of months ago, we were seeing preseason rankings WITHOUT our Boilers included and some on these boards thought we were homers to mock those dumb asses...

I think that H&H battling in practice has absolutely paid off for both of them. That said, I used to really want to see them play together, but after a few games last year and then the few minutes we saw it last game, I just don't think we need to do that. They are better in there one at a time with Biggie feeding them from the high post... IMO.

Painter only went to the twin towers due to foul trouble. I wouldn't rule it out again but we were pretty much trashing YS when he experimented.

My thought regarding H&H: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. We do great with Haas OR Hammons, along with Swanigan or Edwards. No reason to mess with it.

I agree no H&H Block. You can see how beaten down the opposing team's center is by about 10 minutes left in the game. I think it is better psychological torture to just keep subbing in a fresh 280 beast to bang against some poor sucker all night! And if they get tired of that, they can guard Biggie!
I look at it like when SMU had Dickerson and James. They were seldom in the game at the same time, but both got over 20 carries a game. Just swap 'em out and keep pounding it in there.

Dont' get too high boys. This time last year, we were underachieving like crazy. Yes the ship was righted, but we can't afford to forget where we came from and how easy it is to fall.

JMHO, but I trust a computer with algorithms more than a bunch of humans pulling crap out of their butts. LOL. This team is scary good. With that being said, we cannot think for one second about next year. We need to ride this team as far as possible. Next year we lose A.J. This must be the year! Final4 or bust. The time is now. No excuses.

This. Here is what Nathan Baird wrote in the J&C article on this topic:

"Increasingly in sports, we're asked to trust the math more than we trust our eyes."

The problem is, the rankings aren't based on what the voters saw with their own eyes. That's impossible. The voters base their rankings on the few games they see, the team records, things they have heard, and their own biases. Of course we will trust the math more, because it is consistently applied to every team in the NCAA.

I don't know about this still. Yes we have won all games by 12 or more. Yes we have great defense stats. But Msu has a win over Kansas and Oklahoma smashed Nova. I hate both of those teams but it is strange that we are ahead of them. I will take the press though. Nice to see ESPN talking about Purdue in a positive light.
