CMP getting eviscerated on the SCORE

Bernstein and Holmes just gutted CMP's coaching in last night's game. Said there's no way you go into that game with the plan to simply throw it inside and not have a way for your team to get open 3s...especially when you're down double digits and you're trading 2s for 3s. Felt that at the 4-minute mark with Purdue walking the ball up the floor, CMP and everybody but Edey quit. It was BRUTAL.

European trip

Purdue announces European trip this summer. This is much needed for several reasons. Gives this young team experience and time to gel. But also, more importantly perhaps, gives KG a nice recruiting sell to a senior or grad transfer with 1 year remaining a chance to see some of the world. This might help us land someone out of the portal.

Looking Back at FDU

Y’all,

As a life long Boiler fan I think it’s important to remember and learn from the most embarrassing loss of all time.

NO, I’m not talking about North Texas, no I’m not talking about St Pete y’all, although both humiliating losses.

Yes, I am talking about FDU. At 312 in KenPom, this team didn’t even win their conference tournament. They were only in because the actual winner (another absolutely horrific team) was disqualified.

I mean FDU had D2 transfers on this squad and absolutely railroaded us.

After being embarrassed, for the third time in a row, each embarrassment more impressive than the last, we return the same squad.

We tried to play the exact same way with the same horrific team and get absolutely disgraced on Monday night. I mean we didn’t play anybody to get there.

Our whole team was pissing down their legs at the thought of having to take a shot while being guarded. We learned nothing and will learn nothing for next year.

I want a banner so bad! I want to be IU, they have 5 of them. Should we ask them to share a banner with us?

No probably not, they will just bend us over like UConn did.

CMP's Explanation - I think Bernstein and Holmes should read this

I think CMP does a good job of explaining what happened during the game, and how Purdue got stuck throwing the ball inside.

Yeah, they were just going to let us play one on one in the post. You see the 25 attempts that Zach
had,'' Painter said. "For us, we're just going to throw him the basketball and keep going, just be able to keep going to the well. You hope through the game, with what you do, that we could loosen that and get him. For us to get them to change, we had to get the lead, get them on their heels, and then get in that 10-minute mark. We couldn't get there. We couldn't get rebounds. You can't go on runs if you can't get stops.

"They're a great defensive team. So they just made a decision, like, we can defend the perimeter and we can take this away from you, then you're just going to get the ball to your best player, he's going to be one on one, then that's that. They were going to live with that. If we could have rebounded the basketball better, we could have got them to change and do that, but we weren't able
to do that. Then they stayed in control of the game. Not everybody can do what they just did. You have to give credit to their defense and their coach and how they're wired.''

Who, in your life, do you want this most for tonight?

I want this for my mom, Rhonda Miller, and her dad, Raymond Dillon, who passed in 1991. He instilled a love of sports in her that she passed down to me. Her taking me to Kokomo basketball games since i could walk is a big reason Hammer & Rails and this place exist. Her dad would be proud.

My dad is the Purdue alum, but my mom is the big sports fan that started me on this path. Big thanks also to her friends Carol, Peggy, and JoAnn as the ladies she took me to games with. They are my basketball moms.

Awful Coaching Breakdown

Not sure if you guys have seen him before, but this is decent breakdown of the Purdue/UConn game defensively for Purdue and their mistakes. The guy has a schtick with this, but it's actually decent analysis in how to cover in today's game. It's stuff that you don't see always in real time, but you get the benefit of film to break it down. He does this for many big games. He killed John Calipari.

PURDUE’S god awful trash vs. UCONN | NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

YTD - Boilerepherine sales down $1.75M...

And I couldn't be happier!

What a ride! Who cares about post-natty criticism?? My God we lost to a #16 seed last season, and this year make the National Championship. I couldn't care less what people from the Score or anywhere else want to say. Nothing gonna bring me down! PU fans have elephant skin.

A season for the ages, and hopefully CMP can keep it going. E8 and National Title appearance in the past 5 years?!?...c'mon! Nothing but love and gratitude for CMP, the boys, and our mettle. Couldn't be more proud of these kids and our program after what they went thru all offseason.

Many, way too-early 2024-25 polls. Highest... #2!

Ok, stop laughing. I know they're crazy, but soothes my wounds.
Who will meet in San Antonio, in 2025? Ok, give me hell for posting
another way-too early post. This is my therapy.

In passing, I've been hearing a lot of analysts
saying that Zach should stay. I don't see it happening.
Well, I hope Ryan Walters has his game face on, 'cause
I'm ready for some football.

Four-star CB Mason Alexander sets Purdue official visit

Got a note from Alexander when he got back from spring break. He'll be visiting Purdue for his official visit June 7-9 weekend. He was recently on campus recently and had another good visit.

"It was nice for sure they always show big love," Alexander said. "What stood out to me was just how they always make it known I’m one of their top prospects in the class."

It would be huge for Ryan Walters to land Alexander to pair with Tarrion Grant. I'm still waiting to hear who is getting the other OVs from Alexander but the Boilermakers have a real shot here.
