Everyone expected winless-in-the-Big-Ten Purdue would be buried by nationally ranked #4 Penn State which lead the Big Ten without a loss and with a 5-0-1 league record. For the year they were undefeated at 11-0-2 with their only draws being against North Carolina and Michigan. Meanwhile Purdue had scored only 6 goals while allowing 23. Compare that to Penn State’s stats of scoring 32 goals vs allowing 6.

Never mind all that as the Boilers played Penn State to a draw in a magnificently played defensive battle. Penn State was on Purdue’s side of the pitch about 90% of the time but Purdue’s D and Goal Keeper Charlotte Cyr held them scoreless. The Boilers are still only a lowly 0-5-2 in the conference and 3-10-2 for the year but at least on this night they can feel a sense of (near?) satisfaction.
